poor baby, and PSA for moms of boys

TMI sorta

So I noticed that the skin around the head of Brin's penis seemed to have attached to part of the head and couldn't be pulled back anymore (he is circumsized). I was concerned so I called the Dr. He had a penile adhesion and the Dr. had to unstick it by hand. We were told to give tylenol before because it can be very painful! Thankfully it was minor and I had been tugging on it some at home and Brin only seemed to be in mild discomfort it only took liek 30 secondds of the Dr. tugging. He told me that he has had to pull for 30 minutes on bad cases before! I am so glad I went in and had it taken care of. So here is the PSA part. If you have a boy who is circumsized make sure you are pulling back the skin at every diaper change and that the skin is not adhering to the head of the penis. No one ever told me to do this before today and if I had known this mess could have been avoided.

  • This happened to my bff's little boy....no one had ever told them either.  You would think that would be a tip they would give you in the hospital!
  • Poor little guy!!

  • I was a little miffed to say the least that no one told us. I probably wouldn't of even know to bring him in had I not read about penile adhesions in Baby 411! Apparently it is pretty common, if it is so common why don't they warn us!

  • Oh my goodness! Poor baby! Wyatt isn't done, and when I read things like this I am thankful for that fact :( I know too many babies that this has happened to.

BTW Brin is SO cute! I love the new picture! He has the sweetest little face :)

  • Oh no. Poor Brin. This is something that our Dr checks at ever visit. That is awful that no one told you to pull it back. At least it isn't something he will remember.

Brin is holding his head up so much better than D - who hates being on his tummy.

  • Yucky! Sorry you guys had to go through that. I have heard of a few other times this has happened...you're not alone!

The resident who did A's circ didn't say anything, but our pedi did when we saw her at 5 days old. She always checks it too.

  • Same thing happened to Parker.  Nothing major and the doc had to pull it back at 2 different appointments.  Parker didn't even flinch.  I think it is fairly common, but if doctors and nurses would have told us then it wouldn't of happened and it wouldn't be as common.  From the first time we found out we pulled it back, but we didn't do it far enough so they had to do it again.  I wish I would of asked the doc to show me how to do it.
