QOTD - Hump day!

What is something you do often, but you hate to do?

Re: QOTD - Hump day!

  • Mine is calling people I barely know on the phone. This can be anything from a work-related to call to ordering pizza delivery. I don't know why I hate this so much!

  • I was going to say ironing except that I rarely iron.

So, I'll have to say blow drying my hair. My hair is naturally curly and only really looks good if I blow it out. I really don't like the process at all. If I were really rich, I would hire someone to come to my house to blow out my hair.

  • Calling people is a good one - I go to great lengths to get DH to make calls (to the cleaning lady or to order food) whenever possible.

I'm having a hard time thinking of other things I really hate to do that I don't pawn off on others or avoid for long periods of time.  Time to get some coffee and think it over :)

  • talking to my IL's on the phone..when i see their number come up, i pass the phone immediately to DH...when he is busy, or not home, i have a hard time with that....
  • I hate mailing things. (stamp and envelope mail).  I will procrastinate on them as long as possible.  I have seriously found cards years later stamped and addressed that never found their way to the mailbox.

I have the same exact problem.

  • Cooking dinner.  At the end of the day, the LAST thing I want to do is assemble a hot meal with more than 2 food groups.  I rely on my crock pot on the weekends to make weeknight meals.  And if I prepare something at night, it's pre-seasoned/pre-packaged chicken and frozen steam-in-bag veggies.

  • Laundry. I hate laundry with a burning passion. And it just. never. stops.
  • tidying and putting away dishes

and since i'm lazy about being organized at home, the tidying has to be done all the time.

i also hate folding laundry and vacuuming but DH takes care of those things (woot!)

  • Cleaning the bathroom. I hate scrubbing the bathtub, and the tile, all of it. Hate it. And yet I have a compelling need for a clean, sanitary bathroom.
  • folding laundry.

  • OMG! I am thrilled to discover how many of you hate talking on the phone! Our friends no longer call ME to make plans. It's usually the wives calling DH.

  • I also hate talking on the phone and go to great lengths to avoid it.

And one that I don't do very often because I pawn it off on my husband, is vacuuming. Or sweeping.  Really anything floor related.  Thankfully he finds it "calming" to vacuum.  Have at it, the less I have to do with the floor, the better.

  • I don't mind talking on the phone - I can gab with a friend or my mom or sister for ages. But, I do hate with a passion calling strangers - or even people we kind of know - like our landlord. I always make DH do it at home. At work I can't get around it, but I have to take a deep breath to do it!
  • Talking on the phone.  Seriously. My cell phone rings maybe once a week because people know I won't answer.

  • cutting my kids' nails, especially b/w ages 1-2 where I can't do while they BF and they are not old enough to be distracted by TV or something else

  • Another vote here for talking on the phone. I really hate it. I avoid it as much as possible.

  • Folding laundry. I don't mind doing the laundry, I just leave it in the basket forever in the hopes it will fold itself.

I am also one who doesn't generally like to talk on the phone very much, except to certain people. I have a friend who said she has to remind herself not to take it personally that I don't call her. As for the in laws, well, if DH isn't home, their calls go unanswered.

  • Going to work...

Seriously though, another one here that has issues getting stuff in the mail.  I do not know what my problem is.  I have been meaning to send a package of small gifts to some friends of ours overseas for two years now.  Just get it over with already, membrn.

And then gossiping.  It's seriously like an addiction and highly contagious.  And 98% of my work population is female and it never stops.

  • not having a landline means i almost never speak to my ILs on the phone!! and if they call me, i don't don't answer :P

  • I hate packing my lunch. I rarely go out for lunch, so every night it's the same old routine. Sometimes I try to get it done while making dinner, but it just stinks to have to already be thinking about another meal.
  • sign me up as another person that hates talking to strangers on the phone.

also potentially odd is that i hate strangers touching me.  which means i get my hair cut far less often than I should and massages/manicures/pedicures are just never going to happen.

  • I don't like talking to random people in general.  I am so glad my job involves little human contact except a small amount with colleagues.  A job in retail or some other customer service related job would be my nightmare.

I hate doing any kind of maintenance on my car.  Even an oil change is a PITA to me, god forbid I need brakes or tires.  I wish DH would just take care of it for me.  Also if he could take my car out at night and put gas in it too, that would be helpful.  He already does the trash which is my other hated chore from being single.

This!  I HATE putting gas in my car.  I drain that car to near empty every time between fills (I even track the mileage so I know how far past the point of the gas light coming on I can go), and then sigh and pout as I'm filling it back up again.

I'm the same way.  For some reason, people also really like to touch me, and it freaks me out.

I am also terrible about going to the post office.  So terrible, I'm debating buying a scale so I can post at home.  The only reason anything ever gets mailed is because I've befriended our receptionist and she'll post things for me and I put the $$ into petty cash.

  • I hate cleaning and/or scooping the cats' litter box.  But the cats are really picky and if it's not done daily, they will poop next to it on the floor.

I also hate making appointments and have been putting off going to the dentist & dermatologist for like 3 months.

  • Calling people on the phone

    Folding laundry

Watering the plants (why?  I don't know.  It only takes a minute, yet I hate to do it.)

    Unloading the dishwasher

Those random little errands that constantly need to be done (bank, post office, etc.)
