Fence Recommendation?

Has anyone used a company in the Twin Cities to install a fence?  We are looking for recommendations for someone to install a wood fence fand have no idea where to start!  If you have someone you liked, I'd love to hear it or if you had a bad experience let me know so we can stay away from that company!

TIA!

Re: Fence Recommendation?

  • My BIL (Dave) owns a fencing company!  Here is the website:

    http://www.fenceindeck.com

They do really good work! They have some testimonials on their site, and I think they are on Angie's list.

  • We worked through Lowe's for ours and I definitely would NOT recommend. They hire outside contractors, and although everyone at Lowe's at the beginning was super helpful and nice (and it was convenient that we got the wood there and they installed) we had some big issues with being told things would be covered by the warranty when they actually would not be covered, and the communication between Lowe's and the contractor was terrible which made everything take way longer than it needed to get done.  Our gate blew/broke off after a month of them installing and it was easily a month or so and about 15+ phone calls from me before they re-installed it - and we had to pay for more lumber and parts!  Overall I have been very dissatisfied with their service and their final end product.

  • We just had a privacy fence installed a couple of weeks ago by Midwest Fence, and we are so happy with it and the work they did. We used them on the recommendation of friends who has them install a fence several years ago. Their fence looks great five years after install.
  • Thanks everyone for your advice!

Ours was installed by Midwest Fence too. It was installed by the previous owners of our house about four years ago, but there's a small sign on the fence, so I know it was done by them. Our next door neighbor has the same iron fence, also through Midwest Fence. A couple of our neighbors down the street have wood privacy fences from Midwest Fence. All look great.

Our neighbor next door had to have their fence repaired because their kids were doing stupid stuff and damaged the fence, and they said Midwest Fence didn't even charge them for the repair.

  • Mary Nosbush, Artistic Fence ? Eagan MN

    31 Ratings, 87% As, none below a C.

For $1,700.00 - Replaced the fence on 2 sides of our yard + added a gate (all in cedar). Artistic Fences does very high quality work for a reasonable price (we compared several companies). Amy came out and gave us an estimate right on the spot. They were able to complete the job the following week.

For $5,000.00 - HAD 75 FEET OFF CEDAR FENCE INSTALLED AND THE OLD ONE TAKEN AWAT. THIS WAS 6 FEET TALL.
AFTER THIS WAS DONE ,WE LIKED IT SO MUCH THAT WE DID 81 MORE FEET.

Todd Montgomery , Midwest Fence ? S St Paul

    26 Ratings, A ? F with 77% being B or higher.

For $4,672.00 - They tore down and removed my existing fence and installed a new 6-foot high cedar privacy fence in my backyard with three gates.

For $5,400.00 - Midwest Fence removed about 110 feet of cedar fence and posts and replaced with new cedar fence with cap rail design, two gates, and one removable section. Two references to surveyors that would do a survey for a reasonable price were provided.

For  $4,100.00 - Install a 6' cedar wood fence for the back yard with 1 gate.

Paula Stokes, Premier Fence ? St Paul

    6 ratings, A ? D with 50% A and 17% of B,C,D

For  $5,700.00 - Added a 6 feet tall cedar fence that is about 130 feet long. The fence is an alternating picket style.

Timothy Dyrhaug, Keller Residential Fence ? St Paul

    14 ratings, A-C with 86% A

For $2,200.00 - They tore down our old fence and built a cedar fence for us.

For $2,500.00 - Installation of cedar battan type fence with gate.

For $3,000.00 - Installation of 6ft privacy fence in backyard. 70ft of cedar, batten board with mission style lattice, post caps and 2 gates.

  • Might be a day late dollar short on this one but thought I'd chime in anyway :) We used Hansen Bros Fence and they were great! I believe they're based in a northern suburbs but I know they travel. Did great work and were reasonably priced!
