Pay Question

My H just got home from OSUT a few weeks ago. Last week, he received a paycheck we were not expecting and we are trying to figure out what it's for. We tried calling DFAS, but they were no help.

The paystub says that it is for subsistence allowance for about $700, but it also shows a deduction for a debt for about $600. After doing some reading online, I think I have come to the colnclusion that this is his BAS for the time that he was at AIT, but they deducted the $600 for meals the Army provided to him while he was there. I'm guessing he got paid the $100 for days they had a pass.

The only thing that seems strange to me is that the BAS was paid all at once after he got home, instead of monthly.

Does this make sense?

Re: Pay Question

  • I don't think the $100 would be for days he had a pass.  That would be a shitton of things for Finance to keep track of, and we all know that just isn't happening.  My guess is that it's from the days he was traveling, still on orders but meals weren't available, unless he had DTS travel orders, which I doubt coming straight from training.
