feeding clinic

Does anyone have any experience with the feeding clinic @ Kennedy Krieger or Mt Washington?

Re: feeding clinic

  • *I* don't, but my friends took their DS to the feeding clinic at Kennedy Krieger. Their DS went from being tube feed (through a tube in his stomach) to eating solid foods by himself. He has multiple disabilities, so he doesn't eat with utensils (though they are working with him at school on that), but it's amazing the progress he has made. They have been very happy with the results.

  • My friend used them I think. If you can send me an email at jentim2006@yahoo.com, I'll forward you her info.

  • My daughter was in the full day feeding program at Mt. Washigton Peds, and all I can say is AMAZING! My daughter went from barely eating anything (she would only prefer cruchy snacks, like goldfish, graham crackers) to eating all the meals that I make for the family.  She had heart surgery as an infant and was a silent aspirator, so she wasn't allowed to swallow anything due to the result of her swallow study.  Once she was cleared with her swallowing, she was completely dependent on her feeding tube and didn't want to eat.

It was a 6 week program and she went from 8-4, M-F.

Her GI doctor is Dr. Katz and her therapist who worked with her most of the time is Long Clark.  I couldn't say enough wonderful things about how great both of them are at their jobs.  After the 6 week program, they follow up with you every 2 months so make sure your child is still progressing.  They slowly have taken her off of all of her tube feedings.  She officially has been off her feeding tube for the last month, and she's progressing beautifully.

Please let me know if you need more info, but like I said they did miracles for my daughter.

  • coworkers son went through the KK one.  He has severe food allergies and as a result was afraid to eat.  He eats now.
