And now I'm a first time godmother! Hazaa!
I have no idea what I'm supposed to do.
H and I aren't super religious, but did grow up in the church and will do church activities. I know what my godparent's did for me, so the religious gifts, etc, I can do.
Should we start a savings plan for little one at all? It's just H and I for now and I'm still in school. Money isn't tight, so I love the idea of saving every month and then giving it to niece or the parents later in life.
If so, which savings plan do we choose?
As an incentive to comment, here is a pic of her beautiful face. (and a partial shot of the dresser I refurbished for them.

Re: Update: I'm an aunt (and godmother)
Congrats! She is adorable.
I don't have much advice to offer on the godparents part, my godparents didn't do much besides give me a little extra at Christmas each year
We started saving $ for our niece and nephew when they were born. Rather than doing large Christmas/Birthday/random gifts we do very small gifts ($10-20) and contribute a lump sum to their savings each year (we just keep the savings in separate ING saving accounts). They will get the $ to use for (hopefully) college once they graduate high school.
My brother doesn't know we do this for his daughter (he would try and get the $ from us), but we told DH's brother because we wanted to know if they were starting a 529 or anything, because then we'd just contribute the $ to that instead.
Congrats!! That is a beautiful baby. Being an aunt is the best!
There is a post a few down with suggestions on baptism ideas because I just had one for my neice and nephew this past Sunday.
