Smartphone/Wifi and international travel
Apologies for the total newb question...
I have an iPhone and will be going to Canada next week. I plan to turn off the roaming so that I don't rack up a huge bill, but I am assuming that utilizing the wi-fi at any hotspot will be free of charge. Is this right?
Thanks for any thoughts.

Ditto this. I have heard some friends mention that they got hit with charges because some of their iPhone apps were using the network while roaming.
So roaming off and airplane mode on. Great, thanks!
