Or if you have another suggestion, please let me know.
I am an amateur and will be using this camera for personal/family purposes. I want to learn every single thing about my new camera and how to use it and I want this to be a camera that will serve its purpose for years to come. I'm not interested in simply pointing and shooting...or just using my iPhone anymore. :-)
Thank you!
Re: Help me pick between these two cameras, please.
I have a Nikon 3000 and LOVE IT. The only cons that I've come across are: 1 - you have to look through the eye piece to take a picture, you cannot use the screen to see what it would look it. and 2 - there is not a video mode.
Those weren't super important to me when we bought the camera - but the more I use it the more I find myself wishing it had just upgraded to the next level to get those features.
I only know Canon so that's the direction I would go. But that's a lot of camera and a lot of just so-so lens for the price. Is there something specific about that Canon that you're interested in? The T3 is half the price, and comes with just one average lens that you could upgrade for relatively cheap (50mm/1.8 lens is ~$100).
We have the T2i and love it but probably haven't ever used the lens that came with it. We also have an older 40D - that was my early food & baby pic camera, with the 50/1.8.
I played with my sister's friends nikon about 6 months ago, and i still just find the canon menus more user friendly. Go play with both in the store and see which one feels better in your hands, and which one seems more user friendly....for you.
In the canon link - it comes with the 55-250 lens...go play with that in store too. It feels...cheap. I was far from impressed with it, and much prefer the 70-300, even if it doesnt have IS (tho you can get it with it, it's just more $$$).
If you plan to learn everything about how it works, i might suggest finding a used 50D instead. Unless video is important to you.
Gah, I thought for sure I had it all figured out with the IS/VR, the mms, the megapixels and everything...
Thanks for your suggestions though! This helps. I'll go play around with them at the store and go from there.
We have a Canon Rebel & love it. Its very easy to use as well.
Check Amazon & the Canon website. Ive been seeing some specials, cheaper than BestBuy.
