Leesburg winery tours

Hey all!  DH and I are celebrating our five year anniversary at Lansdowne next weekend.  We're interested in visiting a few wineries in the area, but we don't want to drive ourselves.  Has anyone booked a private winery tour in the Leesburg area?  What companies do you recommend?  TIA!

Re: Leesburg winery tours

  • i contacted a bunch of places for our winery trip in june and they were so.damn.expensive. we drove ourselves and i'm so glad we did. more money to spend on bringing wine home! we just made sure to pack a hearty picnic of cheese, bread, and soprasata.

we did hiddencroft and doukenie one day, chrysalis, quattro goombas, hiddenbrook, lost creek, and fabbioli the next.

fabbioli is a must, our absolute favorite. and hiddencroft was our second favorite. we also bought a bunch of wine from chrysalis. we barely liked any of the wines at hiddenbrook and lost creek. quattro goombas wines were good but they had a lot of other wines, which was weird. we stopped on a whim after chrysalis so not like we went out of our way.

  • For my bachelorette party, we went with a company called girl's night out.  It worked out to be about $65/person.  Though I think they only do it for groups of 7-10.

Also, I know that Reston Limo is always doing wine tours to certain wineries, and I think they have really decent prices if you want to branch into something different then the offered tours.

  • Thanks for the suggestions!  In light of the cost, we're thinking about scrapping Lansdowne and just touring wineries.
  • you may also want to see if there's availability at norris house inn. it's in downtown leesburg. the innkeeper a very charming british guy and they make a lovely breakfast each morning.
