apple picking

Re: apple picking

  • I was just coming on to post this!  I have been to a few places in the past but am always looking to try new ones!

  • If we make it out this year, we will probably be going to Honeypot Hill Orchards in Stow MA. We used to live down the street from the Honey Pot, and I would walk there for cider or their incredible cider donuts. http://www.honeypothill.com/ ... Hopefully that link works. I'm on my phone.

  • I love Honey Pot! That is usually where we go as well.

I did hear that Big Apple in Wrentham is NOT picking. Apparently Irene hit them pretty hard.

  • Wojcik's Farm in Blackstone, MA is a great place! http://www.wojcikfarm.com/

  • We'll be heading to Barden Orchards as usual - love their apples and the orchard, and they do integrated pest management so pesticide use is kept to a minimum. (According to Farm Fresh RI there are no organic orchards in RI, sadly.  Apparently apples are really hard to grow organically...)
  • We went to Jaswells today. It was nice b/c it wsn't too busy.

I have to share this though...some people... As we were leaving some lady with her 2 kids, who was with another group of people I think too, was telling her kids they picked too many (in a loud and obnoxious way, they were so blah) and started taking apples out of their bags and throwing them, actaully almost hitting myself and my daughter standing in the "roadway".  I couldn't believe it, it is one thing when people pick apples and perfectly good ones fall and they just look at them and leave them, but that is just a whole other level of wasting apples/food.  DH looked at me and said he needed to get some more and went up a little hill somewhat near them so as i went to him I talked loudly saying something about it to him.  Then when we walked past them they were still tossing apples out, so i had to talk to DH loudly still as we went right by them.  so rude!

  • I did a new place on Sunday Bardens Family Orchard in North Scituate.  It was great, lots of picking to be done and they have a nice pumpkin patch as well.
  • We already went to Harmony Hill ( i think that's the name) but plan on going again when it gets more fall looking.
