I've always rinsed certain meats before cooking them. Mostly chicken, pork and fish. DH thinks that's weird behavior. I will not rinse red meat. Anyone weird like me?[Poll]

Re: A Clicky Poll: Food Prep
I only rinse chicken before cooking it but then I really spend a lot of time cleaning up the sink and countertops afterwards so for me cooking chicken is a PITA.
I know you should rinse meat (my MIL and SIL do it all the time in Italy) but I hate using so many paper towels to dry (plus they stick) and I think the idea of using a kitchen towel is gross. Even though I would immediately put it in the hamper, I don't like the idea of a meaty, wet towel sitting on my dirty clothes.
So I get lazy and often don't do it at all.
No, as long as it gets cooked to the proper temp, it shouldn't matter.
I think you do more harm than good by rinsing it. The bacteria gets spread around more.
I have never even heard of rinsing meat - granted, I'm not very experienced with cooking. If I'm going to cook it anyway (which will hypothetically kill all the germs) why would I rinse it?
