Numb hands...?

The past few weeks, my left hand has started getting slightly numb and the tips of my fingers tingle.  What could cause this?  I'm not doing anything too different, that I know of.

Re: Numb hands...?

  • does it happen when you are doing anything in particular?  or just at random times?
  • My hands started doing that when I got pregnant.  OBGyn diagnosed it as mild carpal tunnel.  It never went away, but has been less frequent after I had F.

  • This happens to me also, usually when I'm grocery shopping or at walmart. I've decided I'm allergic to the hand wipes you wipe the cart down with. They feel like they are on pins & needles, no rash or anything typically related to allergies. Also if I use cheapie hand sanitizer.

  • could be carpal tunnel like Pagas said. but if you continue to have it, get checked. if you had gestational diabetes have it checked sooner. extremity tingling can be a sign of many inocuous things or more serious including diabetes

  • This can be an early sign of a stroke.  In fact, it was the first symptom that Erica's husband had before his brain surgery 2 years ago.  You should definitely get a professional medical opinion on this one.  It's probably nothing, but better safe than sorry.

Sadly this is true. I would just go in and see a neurologist. D had more symptoms before his neuro appointment which made him go into the ER. I'm sure its something like CP (like we thought for him), but I wish D had went in when his first symptom showed up instead of waiting until he couldnt' use his damn hand. Guys.

  • I had numb hands when I was pregnant and then about a month after.
  • I've had this with mild CP before and after pregnancy and when I have had a knot in my shoulder. The knot had trapped a nerve and it made my hand fall asleep and my fingers tingle.

Dx: PCOS and short luteal phase
18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

  • i get that sometimes - usually in the tips of my thumbs. or my big toes. i seem to be relatively fine/normal ;p
  • I have this in my left hand as well as the left side of my face.  I have some other symptoms as well.  I've had tests and an MRI to rule out anything major and the doc still doesn't know what is causing it.

I think this is probably the case.  I had that happen with C.

This started in the last few weeks - after I started working from home.  I'm sitting differently in my chair - different chair, different way the office is set up.  And I spend more time driving in the car, meaning I sit differently there.  It is only my left ring & pinkie fingers.

BUT I am going to monitor it and see about a doctor.

Mine started up again when I stopped working and started only typing on a laptop sitting on the couch, versus my ergonomic chair and desk at the office.  Doctor said that is what probably caused it to flare up again.  I hope yours is something as easy!

That makes sense.  I'm typing more on the laptop - smaller keyboard.  I also sit in the chair, but not always and right now doing online training, I'm sitting all comfy and not the way I should/would if I were actually working on stuff.

I've recently had tingling in my hands and lower legs. I have a few knots in my shoulders that give me pain along with neck tension. I'm pretty sure this is why Im getting that tingly feeling.
