Some questions I'd love to hear your responses on:

How long have you had your house on the market?  Since Friday, September 23...5 whole days.

Have you reduced the price?  If so, how many times and at what span of time?  No reductions yet.

How many showings have you had?  1 showing.  We have the service set up through our real estate agent so that requests come directly to us.  I didn't get any calls on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, but got a call on Monday morning for a showing that night.

How many open houses?  None yet, but the first one is planned this Sunday from noon to 2pm.

Have you gotten feedback from all potential buyers' agents?  Sadly, no.  I am dying for feedback, but haven't heard anything from the agent that was here on Monday night.  My real estate agent called him on Tuesday and left a message, but hasn't heard back yet.

Where are you advertising?  I submitted an ad for the online classifieds  for a company that employs thousands of people around here, my agent is putting an ad in a local paper, plus the online listings.

Thanks in advance for any answers!  I live in the suburbs in a metropolitan area and there is a lot of competition around here.  Just curious to see where others are at.

Some questions I'd love to hear your responses on:

How long have you had your house on the market?  40 days before contract date (we signed contract this week)

Have you reduced the price?  If so, how many times and at what span of time?  No reduction in price - wouldn't have considered it until 60/90 days on market, at least

How many showings have you had?  We had none for the first two weeks, then right after Labor Day, it picked up and we had at least 3 a week (total of 10 before contract)

How many open houses?  None - my realtor isn't a fan

Have you gotten feedback from all potential buyers' agents?  I think my realtor got feedback from everyone and it was all positive, but he didn't share much with me.

Where are you advertising?   Realtor handled this

We were extremely lucky that our house sold quickly.  It was in a desireable neighborhood with no other houses for sale at that time in the sub.  It was pretty updated and very clean.  I touched up all of the paint too so it looked move in ready.  It was a big lot relative to our neighborhood and it was in a great location in the sub.  We did price it right, even though it was a financial blow to us.  The market is what the market is.....even though it stinks.  We had to take a loss on the house but had no choice as we were moving out of state.  If you over price it, it will not sell.  Make sure your pricing is in line.

  • Thanks, everyone, for the responses!  Good to see a variety of answers.  I know that every instance is different, but I just was curious on what others' experiences were/are.

Congrats to the sellers who sold quickly and good luck to the rest of us!
