Can someone fill me in on Amanda Knox?
Yes, I know its been going on for years but I can never get an unbiased read on the thing.
1) She was studying abroad, and had a british roommate and a drug dealing Italian boyfriend.
2) She and boyfriend were known to be kinky partiers.
3) ???
4) Roommate is dead and Amanda Knox is suspect, later convicted. (as is boyfriend)
I've heard stories about police bumbling, but what was it about the case that made everyone so sure she did it? Am I accurate in what I've outlined, aside from point number 3?

Well she ended up lying and that didn't help anything. I think she threw the blame on someone else and then admitted later that she lied because she was under pressure. Her boyfriend also didn't really back up her alibi that she was at his house the whole time and said that she could have maybe left at some point. It's good to have an alibi when your roommate is murdered especially after they realized the murder was staged and that someone in the house tried to make it look like a break in.
My knowledge is from a lifetime movie so take that with a grain of salt.
I should add that there is really no glaring evidence so I don't know that she for sure was guilty but this is another case where things just look suspicious I guess.
I think they found some of her DNA on the knife but I don't think it could be used for some reason.
So, the roommate was stabbed. Was it during a sex game or something? I keep hearing people bring up the sexual stuff so I assumed it was related.
Was she a suspect simply because she was the roommate? And how do they know it was staged?
I KNEW I should have watched that Hayden whats-her-face movie.

I don't know that they know why she was stabbed but they think some kinky stuff may have gone wrong. She was partially clothed and there were evidences of sexual activity. I'm assuming since there were multiple people involved (from DNA and footprints) that maybe it was some type of violent orgy that she didn't want to participate in.
I think they started questioning Knox b/c her bf faltered and they realized she didn't have an alibi and then she got caught lying. I think they thought some of the footprints and DNA were hers.
Investigators said something about how the glass was broken showed that it was broken from the inside of the house instead of from the outside of the house. I think the glass was also on top of a lot of the things in the room instead of underneath. So it had to have happened after the struggle.
The most recent development that I had heard in the case was that the other man who was also arrested and sentenced in the case, Rudy G-something, admitted in jail to his cellmate that he and another man were there at the house because Rudy had been "talking to" the roommate, Meredith. Supposedly, Rudy admitted that they decided to rape her and when she fought back, the other man stabbed her. He also supposedly confessed that Amanda and her b/f Rafeal? were not there that evening and had nothing to do with it.
Amanda was being painted by the presses as being a femme fatal type and the prosecution alleged that Amanda and her b/f tried to rope Meredith into a sex game with the two of them and Rudy and that when Meredith refused they killed her. Also, the day after the murder was discovered Amanda and her boyfriend had lunch and went to a lingerie shop together and were reported to be laughing and talking in good moods. This was supposed to be an indication of their guilt.
