WTF, HR

So you know how I work with miscreants?

Apparently we've had like 10 cell phones or iPods stolen off of people's desks in the last two weeks (my company has like 400 employees).

The office manager wanted to send out an email telling staff and HR wouldn't let her because "they don't want people to think there's a problem". Um, hello, if this isn't a "problem" then what is? I told my team to start locking their sh!t up again. I hate this place sometimes.

Meanwhile, HR will send out MANY emails about food being stolen out of the communal fridges.

Re: WTF, HR

  • I cannot believe all this crap that goes on in your workplace.  I think there needs to be an an email, memo, something letting everyone know that there are thefts going on.  People leave theirt purses in their desks, electronics and all sorts of stuff.  Are there video cameras?

    CRAFTY ME

Kasi's book recommendations, liked quotes, book clubs, book trivia, book lists (read shelf)

  • We have cameras in the lobbies outside our main entrances. But no, not in the actual office suites. I think it is ridiculous. The thing is you can lock your purse up, but the filing cabinets are really easy to break into. It happens all the time.

The only time they call the cops is if COMPANY property is stolen. I told K about this and he flipped out. He was like, if your phone is stolen, you will demand that the company pay for it, or call the police. Really I don't know who is ultimately responsible.

Anyway, that really sucks about the theft and if I were the office manager, I would have sent out the e-mail (do it and apologize after theory).

We recently had someone come into our office and steal a wallet out of someone's purse.  No one has a clue how this guy pulled it off without being noticed, it just doesn't make any sense.  He was seen on many cameras using her cards at banks, etc. so we know it wasn't an inside job.  Everyone in our office knew about it within an hour and we all started locking our stuff up.  The police were called and they made several follow up visits, etc.

Hah. thanks :-) yeah...I don't know. I just feel sick sometimes thinking about the people I work with. They steal food from the communal fridges. They spit in the stairwells. They pee/poop all over the place in the bathrooms. Lately I've been noticing chewed gum stuck ALL OVER. like on the handrails in the stairwells, under tables in the conference rooms, and even just stuck on the wall near a card-reader at one of the entrances. What is the matter with people???
