The Onion Tweets About Fake Hostage Situation
Story
I saw the first tweet this morning and went on CNN to verify it (because it was coming from The Onion).
They're catching a lot of flack for it. What do you think? Big deal and in poor taste or just satire?

Re: The Onion Tweets About Fake Hostage Situation
Agreed TX.
From the way the article reads, I assume they suspect it may be the account and website were hacked (there are links included in the tweets) but if this was a decision made or approved by an editor it wholly irresponsible.
Congress gets a day off for Rosh Hashana?
I hate when hoaxes result in wasted manpower and money. Wasn't there recently a rapper who tweeted the phone number to a sherrif's department? I put these in the same category. People with real emergencies are forced to wait when resources are being used to "investigate" or respond to the hoax.
They're off until next week.
Agreed.
Casey Anthony has a $200K bill from the Sheriff's Department for the time spent looking for her daughter while she lied to investigators.
I'm actually opposed to that. Telling investigators she knew the child was dead would have been self-incrimination, which she has the right not to do.
I don't think they charged her with the bill because she may or may not have known the girl was dead but rather because she lied about the kidnapping scenario with the nanny who never existed. Basically she lied and had them look in area A when they would have been focusing in area B had they not had the false information she provided to them.
Even though it is about hostage taking, I think it is in bad taste considering there have been real shooting situations lately and people have died. Poor taste.
It's the onion. Come on. Anyone who thinks the news from there is real is as dumb as someone who thinks congress held kids hostage for trillions.
I don't believe the onion has ever reported a real news story. Why would they start now? Unclench, America.
This is where I am.
I understand that it is a touchy issue. But has the Onion ever published something real?
Sure it's tacky, but it's the Onion.
