Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. Thank you.

Note: This only affects The Nest's community members and will not affect members on The Bump or The Knot.

Let's daydream...

If you could change one thing about how the world works, what would it be?  This can be the world as a whole, or a small part of it; it can be biological, political, social, physical, or otherwise... anything.  What would YOU change?

I have no immediate answer, but will think of one.  Just thought it might be an interesting question.

And Amanda, yes, sports count!  :)

  • I would make it so that sleeping accumulates, and you can bank up on sleep.  If you sleep longer than you need, you save it up for the next night or longer til you need it.  :)

  • Work Ethic.  I have worked hard for everything I have ever gotten. From school work to employment to relationships to personal growth, I feel that there are many that aren't willing to put in the work it takes to get want you want in life, yet feel they are entitled to the same things that a person that puts forth full effort earns.  Would solve so many problems from almost all aspects!

  • I agree with all of the above!  This one is sort of controversial but it's on the forefront of my mind because of work... I work with several students who are in the top of their class in high school, but have few opportunities after graduation because they are here illegally.  Yes, they are wrong to not be here legally, but it's so complicated, scary and expensive for them to do what they have to do.  It's easy to say "just get your papers" but when I had a depressed, sobbing senior to comfort, it changed my outlook.

So basically, my point is, if someone is here illegally, and as long as they are working or being educated, let's just legalize them, then tighten up the policy for future immigrants.  The beneift is that there will be TONS of people paying into taxes which will do an enormous service to our society financially.  I hope I don't ruffle any feathers with this, it's just been on my mind lately because of the students I deal with, and they are at a disadvantage because their parents brought them here and didn't do the right thing.  My heart breaks for them.

  • These are all great (and Lori, I'm with you there; I'd even go one better and wish that cancer wouldn't exist at all)!

Yeah, I wish things in the world could be more fair (would solve what both Danie and Allison were talking about as well).

*sigh*  I know it sounds like puppies and rainbows, but sometimes it's nice to imagine how things might be if the good things could happen to good people (and the bad people didn't get away with anything).

  • Neat post!  I have a real answer and a "for fun" answer.

Real: that everyone in the world would be born with equal rights and equal opportunity, no matter their gender, race, religion, political view, sexual orientation, country of origin, etc.

For fun: that Quidditch was a real sport, flying broomsticks and all!!!  That would be so sweet!
