My husband and I are under contract for a SS. We were told that it would take 7 business days to get it assigned to a rep at BOA for SS approval (which would take approx 3weeks). At first we didn?t want to get into a SS because we know the process is lengthy and we needed to move like yesterday. Our realtor encouraged us to move forward with this SS because they owe 300k for this house and we are giving them 310k (not to mention it was a GREAT DEAL). According to him, this process would move much faster than an average SS. He kept raving how the sellers agents are SS specialist and would be working on everything. Of course, this is NOT moving as fast as we had planned. It?s already been over 3 and a half weeks and the application hasn?t even made it to anyone?s desk at BOA. Our goal is to move in before the holidays as we were looking forward to having family over. I called my realtor yesterday to ask him what was going on and his response was ?no sweetie, nothing ever goes as planned with a SS, don?t start counting the days you will drive yourself crazy.? I feel like our realtor completely sugar coated everything for us and now we are stuck in SS Purgatory
Re: SS Purgatory
How disappointing. It's always tough with short sales. Of course, once it gets approved it's a race to the finish and they hardly give you enough time to get everything done before settlement.
Are you still looking? I don't think it would hurt to do so. If you find something else you like better in the process that isn't a SS you could always offer on it.
Good luck!

I agree with this completely. SS are a long and draining process. I would definitely keep your eyes out--as many posters (including myself) have experienced, a lot can come up during the inspection, etc. which can ruin the deal.
