Insurance and deductible question

So I called the hospital billing department this morning about a bill I got. There might be an error in the billing but no one there or at my insurance company can tell me for sure. And they aren't exactly sure if I should call the referring doctor or the genetics office that I went to to see if there is in fact a billing error. If the billing is correct it covers my deductible for the rest of the year, if its not it saves me $200 now. But then they might retro rebill for my blood work at my PCP and then I'd have to pay the $200 to them. Would you fight with the hospital billing or would you just say forget it and pay the deductible? ( Oh and the only reason I'm question the billing is that my original bill did not have any of the codes or what they billed for on it only an amount for an outpatient visit, and the insurance said it was billed as a medical emergency, otherwise I wouldn't be questioning it). At this point though it sounds like so much more energy than its worth to fight it.

Re: Insurance and deductible question

  • Do you have Tricare? Did you see your PCP who referred you for the testing? If so, you should not have any costs (from what I unerstand)... So it might be worth looking in to.
