I'm sure this ? has been asked before... Kindle vs Nook
I read a lot but just check out books at the library.... can I use one of these? I know the library has some E-books so didnt know if I could use this.
If so.... what are the main differences? THANKS

Re: I'm sure this ? has been asked before... Kindle vs Nook
If you're talking strictly regular Nook vs. Kindle, there doesn't seem to be much difference (anymore); I just read Kindle's allowing sharing of books and library check-out, too. (Nook always has, but their LendMe feature is not available on every book AND you're only able to lend a book one time. Publishers need to get to figuring this shizz out. Also, e-book prices are insane; most times, one could buy a paperback for less than they could buy an e-book.)
I have an original, 3G (+Wi-Fi) Nook and I really do love it, though, I'm so close to getting a Nook Color or another tablet. If you're interested, I'd probably be up for selling my Nook (with cover & probably around 50 books already loaded).
Ok, so the e-books that you can check out at the library can you put them on these. That is all that I would probably use it for.... I think. haha If that works on your nook I'd be interested in talking more. Otherwise what is the difference between these and the tablets or whatever.
Bascially I'm strictly wanting to check things out at the library... what is my best bet?
Thanks for doin my research. LOL
Awesome, thanks for the info. I'd probably be interested in yours if you decide to sell. Email me and let me know how much you are wanting and if you decide to test run the wifi what you can do with it.
My SS did hours of research to decide which one he wanted. He went with the Nook.
- Battery LIfe Longer
- He like the Nook pages because they looked more like pages of a book.
- Bigger title selection
- Library books you can borrow, 14 days at a time and this summer, Kindle did not offer the ability to check out library books.
- He can turn on the wifi for downloading when needed so it doesn't stay open running his battery down.
- You can do it on the Kindle too but the Nook you can have 1 account then several Nooks/nook apps on your phone accessing the books.
I too did much research before buying and absolutely have NO buyer's remorse for the NOOK COLOR. I surf the internet all the time on it, downloading books is very easy and I play games on it as well. If you have little ones (I don't but have nieces) I have games/books for them as well and they really like the "read to me" feature where it reads the book to them and they turn the pages.
As I said in a previous post I think this week, I tried to get books from my local library (Bellevue) and all of the ones that interested me were on a waiting list so I purchase most of my books (there are free ones on B&N.com, if you have friends you can only share certain books(def negative feature)) and some books are still pretty expensive...but if you were to buy the hardback/paperback at regular cost it is still pretty comparable. Only problem I have is it is easier for me to order books and I read a lot so I spend too much!!
TTC #1 since 08/11 IUI#2 = BFP!
I have a Kindle DX & I LOVE, love, LOVE it. Did I mention that I love it?!
Features I think are important/good to have:
- e-ink display is much easier on the eyes
- fantastic book selection. I have had it for almost 3 years, I think, and I have looked up one book that they didn't have available. One.
- app on my phone that syncs the book I'm reading across the two devices. I never thought I would read on my phone but I actually do, not infrequently. I love that app.
- battery life is great.

I just saw that the Kindle just indroduced the all new Kindle Fire....looks like it is touch and color!
