tardy policy?

When does your company count you tardy?

1 min?

5 min?

Do you have a set schedule or do your hours flex?

Re: tardy policy?

  • I don't clock in. As long as you are usually on time they don't really care if you are a few minutes late. And you can always take a short lunch if you are. I work 8-5 but if I had to leave at 430 for something I take a shorter lunch. Other than that it is pretty set.

DH works for the same company but in a warehouse and he clocks in. 1 min late and he gets a point off. After so many you get fired. He has a set schedule unless he does overtime.

  • We have a some what flexible schedule, we don't clock in/out.  Most of us work 8-5pm, some do 7-4pm, others 8:30-5:30pm.  An hour lunch or shorter/longer as needed.

Our tardy policy is if the start time starts to get abused.  If your late once in awhile not a big deal, it happens.  If it's more than once a week, it's a big deal and co-workers/bosses are going to notice and probably say something.

  • My organization is generally pretty strict. I believe there's a 5 minute window. But I'm salary so I don't clock in or out. We're really flexible and do a lot of work outside of the normal 8 - 5 day... so no one is keeping tabs unless it's really obvious that you're never there. I often just do a working lunch at my desk --- so I often flex that time and come in a little late and leave a little early on some days.

  • I wish my work had some sort of tardy policy!  About half (there are only six of us where I work, so half isn't as bad as it sounds) the people I work with stroll in the door 5-10 minutes late almost everyday and NOTHING is ever said about it!  It really sucks because we work with kids and when they come in late it make our jobs more stressful...

  • I come and go whenever....

dh has to be there right on time.  1 min = late.

  • No policy, very flexible time.
  • I have 1 minute leeway.  If I clock in at 8:02, it would have been better for me to just take an hour unpaid and wait until 9:00 to clock in.  8:02 gets me a written warning.  Same policy for clocking in/out for lunch.  I hate being treated like a child.

  • Flexible so long as you're salary.  People abuse it and it pisses me off.

  • Pretty flexible here.  If I'm late, I just stay a little later to make up the time.  I do a timesheet but it isn't really looked at with a fine tooth comb.
  • We come and go as we want to as we work on billable hours and have lots of outside appointments/traveling...as long as we are getting out work done we have complete flexibility
  • Our policy varies by department. I can pretty much come and go as I please....within reason.

Tuesday & Thursday I am 30 minutes later than my normal because I do pre-school drop-off. I just take 30 minutes shorter lunch or work from home that night.
