Re: Hobby: Any suggestions?

  • I dunno, man.  Hobbies are such a personal thing.  The best advice I can give you is to try everything and see which ones stick.  Make some soap, write a few blog entries, crochet a hat, make a quilted potholder.  Approach them all with an open mind and let yourself gravitate to hobbies and techniques you like best.

FWIW, I've tried, crochet, quilting, beading, and a little scrapbooking, but only took to knitting seriously with a weekly blog.

Also, if you're on Pinterest, you'll get some fantastic crafty inspiration there.

  • Reine's tips are great, but I would add that friends can be an asset here. Do you know anybody interested in these things? Sometimes it's easier to get into a hobby if you know an "expert" who can coach you when you get stuck or even just to compare notes and share successes.

  • Cooking! It's a great hobby that is practical as well...Take some local classes, grow your own produce and have a dinner club. I think Cooking Light has a link on their site to organize your cooking clubs. Then you could expand and start a food blog if all goes well and you're enjoying it.. ;) Maybe start the blog in the beginning and post about your journey through the culinary world.
