How did you get your position?  Do you send out a resume to the department head or do universities advertise on a specific site?

Re: adjuncts

  • I adjuncted at 3 different colleges while I was in grad. schol and I believe I sent my vitae and cover letter to the department chairs each time. In two cases they hired me directly and in the third they had me send my info. to the university's HR, then they hired me.

  • I've found adjuncting positions from regular job listings and the HR job listings on the college's own website. If you know someone who is already teaching in a department, they might be able to point you in the right direction of where to submit your C.V. If you call a department, their secretary might also know who you should submit to.

A lot of the universities in my area do not accept resumes via HR unless you are applying for a specific open position, but that may also depend on the size of the school.
