I posted last week about the spotting and pain I was having. The Dr. office didn't have me come in and didn't seem concerned so I let it go. I have been having back pain off and on and have to pee constantly but thought that was just part of pregnancy.
I had two crazy days at work and last night I came home and felt awful. I felt nauseated all evening, tired and took a long nap, and my lower back hurt so bad I could hardly sleep. I know all of this can be normal pregnancy stuff-especially in the third tri, but I called the Dr. to get an appointment thinking I had a UTI.
I was starting to think that I was crazy and didn't want to seem like I was calling the Dr. for every little thing, but sometimes you just know when something is off.
So I went in today and he said that I have a UTI that he gave me an antibiotic for, and that they are sending my urine to the lab to make sure it hasn't travelled to my kidneys. He said that there was blood in the urine specimen. He asked if I have been having back pain and I said yes and he said that if I don't feel better in 48 hours to make sure and call him.
So I am hoping and praying it's just a UTI and not a kidney infection, because I read online (I know Dr. google is a horrible thing...!) that pregnant women that get kidney infections can have low birth weight babies. It also said that pregnant women are more likely to get a kidney infection from a UTI. I just want the baby to be ok and not be affected by what is going on with me-it's just scary.
So anyways I just wanted to let update you, I'm sure once the antibiotics kick in I will be fine, being pregnant has made me such a worrier!!!
Re: Update to last week's post
oh man! just take it easy!!! and pls keep us posted
my read shelf:
Luckily I don't have to work again until Monday. And I am glad that I have the antibiotics, so even if it's in the kidneys the antibiotics should knock it out.
I guess this is pretty common in pregnancy-I'm just glad that I went in to get checked out and didn't wait.
EXACTLY :-)
they put me on macrobid
