ARGH!!! I am SO frustrated with my Dr's office right now.
They got a new scheduling system and we managed to eek in on Tuesday with Ana's rash but now because of this system they are fully booked until into next week. I can't get in to see ANY of the Dr's in the practice. Katen is complaining of sore throat (again) and really should be seen today. Ana also needs to be re-seen as this rash is not better and we have no answers.
What am I supposed to do in this case? It seems silly to take her to urgent care as it's not an emergent issue, yet after all of her strep bouts, I need to nip it in the bud before Ana catches it too.
We usually go to Mercy West Clinic, but there's a Methodist walk in a little ways from us. Can a person switch clinics like that without a paperwork nightmare? (two sick kids + paperwork = insane mommy)
What's a person supposed to do when they can't get into their own Dr?
Re: what to do if Dr is full?
I would go to the Mercy West Clinic because you have been seen there before. Don't feel bad about it not being urgent, I've been there plenty of times for non emergencies like ear infections.
Whew - got in to see an ARNP in Johnston.
Good gracious I'm nervous about seeing someone who doesn't know the girls' history, but maybe we can get Katen fixed up at least for now.
This scheduling thing is going to make so many people angry.
So glad you got an appointment! Sometimes I think seeing a "new" person can be really helpful, because they don't rely so much on the established history & see things with a fresh perspective. Hopefully they'll have some answers for you & your girls
Not any more. I called right at 8:30 when the scheduling board opened up. They have a new electronic scheduling system as opposed to their paper system and they can only see half of the patient load that they were previously seeing. When we were there on Tuesday (and lucky to get in) it was complete chaos because of the new system. All of the peds in that practice are booked into next week. Even if the Dr told you to come back. No exceptions. So frustrating.
I would be switching drs. I have never not been able to see a dr or np that day if my kid was sick. Our pedi office is insanely busy and they will always make sure you can get in the same day.
Are they only seeing 1/2 the patient load b/c they are now giving you more time in the clinic to ask questions, etc? Or does it have something to do w/ the new system itself? strange. Either way, they are probably going to have to add new providers or will lose patients. It is unheard of in this area (at least for adam's clinics, which are the only ones I'm super familiar with) to wait that long to see a Dr. I am pretty sure you could call his office at 4:30 on a friday and they'd still see you. Granted, they are busy and can get behind, but you'd never get the run around like this.
I really really hope you get to the bottom of all this soon! Your girls are very lucky that you are such a smart/inquisitive mom, you're probably doing most of the Drs work for them. Now you just need them to listen!
