Suggest your SUV/Crossovers
We are thinking about buying one soon once we pay off some bills.
Thanks
Re: Suggest your SUV/Crossovers
I love my Hyundai Veracruz (we've had it for a year). It's super comfortable to drive, gets decent gas milage (esp for an suv) and the warrenty can't be beat. We wanted a car with a third row but not one that left too much extra space when not in use. ( for example, I love the sequioa but it was huge to accomodate the thired row). We use the third row probably once or twice a month with everyone in the car. We can use half of the third row at a time to still have more room for stuff, plus the second rows slide back and forth to accomodate long legs (most we saw didn't). I also climbed in the third row in many cars (pretty much any foreign car and ford that you can think of) and this was the most comfortable.
My second runner up was the ford flex. it was a really cool car, I like the feel of it too. But the tester we drove had about 1200 miles on it and was already rattling and falling apart. I'm not confident in ford quality lately and the dealer around here for fords are not very friendly.
i have a ford expidetion. i love it! it's a little big for some and doesn't get the best gas mileage, but it works for my needs.
i also really liked driving around in AP's Hyundai! it's really nice
we have a 2010 Subaru Tribeca. I think very few people even know this vehicle exists...lol. My mom has a 2008 MDX, and it's very comparable. We were looking at MDX's and Volvo XC-90's when we bought our Tribeca. Its price point is a little lower than the higher end brands, but a littler higher than the economy brands. Very in-the-middle.
I've driven about 24,000 miles over the past year. It's so nice and quiet inside this car compared to my last car!
It's small enough to not feel "big" but it does have a third row that pops up when needed. This is helpful because sometimes we have our family of 4 plus two other kids in the car, and we can accommodate everyone. I can fit 5 adults and 2 "big kids" or three small kids (I think... I have never done this) max.
The second row slides back so that backseat passengers can have ample leg room when the third row isn't in use. I'm 5'10" and have no problem riding back there. The kids LOVE each having their own seat row on long road trips. They can spread out, take laying-down naps, and put their bags/entertainment in the floorboard if they need to.
With the third row folded down to maximize the trunk-area space, I can fit A LOT in there. I have a giant suitcase (like the biggest rolling bags you can generally find) for all my infant portrait stuff when I go to people's houses. That, plus a few buckets/pails, plus my giant camera case can all fit back there. When we have gone to schl!tterbahn I've fit everyone's crap plus the big rolling cooler back there.
It has the back-up camera, so you can look in your rear-view mirror and see what the camera sees-- no craning your neck to try and decide if you'll run into something. This is one of my top five features of this car!!! I really have no idea how I lived without it (I wish this could be a standard feature on ALL vehicles). I also have the bluetooth, which I'm not sure how I lived without...lol.
It handles like a car, but you can fit a lot into this little bugger. We road-tripped a family of 4 + dog and all our luggage and my camera equipment to Kansas for Thanksgiving, it was great.
It's a subaru, so it's all wheel drive. You can drive on the sand at the beach, or through a muddy parking lot at soccer fields with less chance of getting stuck...lol. Ask me how I know.
My sister has a GMC Acadia, and it is lovely, but I prefer my car to hers. I feel that it handles better, it's smaller, it gets better gas mileage, and when I park her car in my garage, I can't open the back hatch if my garage door is down. With my car, I can open the hatch with the garage door down. It's just a little bit smaller. We considered the Acadia, but ended up going with something just little smaller because I drive so much, and fuel economy was a factor.
She has to be able to cart around 5 kids at times, though-- so hers definitely works for what she needs (she has the 2 captain's chairs in the middle and then the bench seat for third row).
The MDX is great as well (I have driven mom's frequently). There just were not enough reasons to pay that much more for a car when we were buying (too similar to the Tribeca, but significantly more $$).
I know it sounds odd, but we did a fair amount of car-swapping in my family before we bought the Tribeca, because when I'd have my sister's kids over, I just borrowed either mom's or sister's vehicle so we could all be in one car.
Good luck!

I have an Acura MDX and I really like it. Handles nicely, like a car and has every gadget you could ever need except automatic wipers and parking sensors (though mine is 3 years old, so those options could be available now.)
So Tasty, So Yummy
I have a Ford Edge and love it. It is 3 years old, and still drives very well and we've had no issues with it. And it has kept up very well on the inside.
It does not come with a 3rd row, so if you think you need one then it is out. But if you don't need the 3rd row, I'm very happy with this car. I would likely buy another one in the future.
We have a Honda Pilot. I love it. Large enough to haul stuff, but small enough that I don't feel like I'm driving a boat.
It has the 3rd row, which I like for additional passengers, just in case, but it folds flat if we need to use it for storage.
Our 2nd seat moves up and back, too, and I like it to give the 3rd row more more when we do need to use it.
BFP with no treatment!
