How long do pumpkins last?
I should really know this by now. How far in advance of Halloween can you can buy a pumpkin and expect it to last through the holiday without getting all rotten and gross?
Re: How long do pumpkins last?
As long as you don't carve them, they'll last for a long time.
My problem is that squirrels eat them. They especially like the cute little gourd ones.
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
Squirrels eat mine, too. I hope it's a nice change from acorns.
We usually carve ours the week before halloween and they hold up well for a week at least - we usually toss them right after, so not sure how long they'd actually last.
My parents always put vaseline on theirs to make it last longer, but I saw this interesting experiment of treating six pumpkins with glue, vaseline, bleach, acrylic spray, and something called pumpkin fresh (plus a control pumpkin), and the pumpkin fresh and the control pumpkin tied. Interesting!
