I started having painful contractions last night when we went to bed. I've had some Braxton Hicks tightening, and some dull period type cramping before but nothing painful like this. They were about 7 minutes apart for an hour so so. So at midnight I finally got up and went downstairs since I wasn't sleeping anyways. Then they tapered off. I came back up an hour later and went to bed and was woken up periodically throughout the night with painful contractions again.
I'm sending DH off to work, but he is going to be "on call". Thankfully the school he works at is literally 5 minutes from our house. I am going to start timing them more diligently (I got an ap for that
I just feel like I don't know when I should call him, etc, etc. Why does this all have to be so confusing. I just need my water to break, then I'd know it's the real deal!
Re: Is this baby coming???
YUCK! I would go mental! I keep telling DH that some people go days like this before baby, but 8 weeks. You are a real trooper!

Oh, exciting!!!! Lots of dr's say the 5-1-1 (5 minutes apart, 1 minute long for 1 hour) rule is when to head to the hospital, however, you will know best what is going on with your body. Also, the contractions should (per my midwife) be intense enough to make you stop what you're doign (talking, walking, etc..)
Also, my water didn't break until about 15 minutes before Anders was born-broke on its own, but just before I started pushing.
Good luck!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
My water never broke either. I just laid in my bathtub for a good hour then held on to my puppies to ease the contractions.
They hurt like really bad period cramps.
Download a timer on your phone, that way you can keep track.
And....
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Well, they have been between 5 1/2 and 6 minutes apart, but I just took a shower and that seemed to slow them down a bit so I'm still just hanging in there and waiting to see whats up.
Really bad period cramps is how I described them to DH too.
I am really hoping to go drug-free so we want to wait as long as possible before we go to the hospital too.
Ahhhhh, I hate not knowing what's going on!
