AI0 or AI2?

Any of you CD ladies use any AIO or AI2 diapers? I would really like to be able to CD (still determining if can do with day care), but DH and I have such a hard time keeping our regular lives now from being a mess, I just don't think we'll keep up with pockets. If we can CD, I plan to have some pockets for over night etc. for better stuffing. But I am hoping some of you ladies may have had experience with any of the AIO or AI2 systems. I have heard good things about GroVia and Flip recently...

TIA!

Re: AI0 or AI2?

  • I've never used an AIO, so no help there. I love the versitility of pockets though, and don't find it too difficult to stuff them. Not any worse than matching socks to me.
  • I have a couple BG AIOs and I only use them when all of my other diapers are dirty.  It seems like they are harder to get clean and we have the most stink and rash issues with those.   They're ok but I like pockets better even though it's annoying stuffing the pockets.

  • I would stay away from AIOs, but that's JMO. Like Nikki said, they can be more difficult to get stink out, and are not as versatile as far as being able to fix leaking issues (with pockets, you can change your inserts!).

Also, they take forever to line-dry, and putting them in the dryer all of the time is bound to result in more wear and tear on them in a shorter period of time--not ideal if you plan to be able to use them for subsequent kiddos! With pockets, I line-dry the covers (dry time varies, but longest is like 12-18 hours) and throw the inserts in the dryer.

It is a pain to stuff pockets, but it seriously takes like 10-15 minutes every three days. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of life!

  • Thanks ladies! I knew the AIOs had some issues so was hesitant, but trying to figure out what is going to work best overall. DH and I are both SO bad with follow through - on everything - it's pretty sad. So while I'm trying to fix the majority of that now, I want to be realistic too. I'm now leaning towards a trial so we can see what/if it works and go from there. Thanks again!!
