woot!

Finally something is looking up! I got soooo fed up with having this truck that J hates, and I'm tired of pouring money into. So, today a friend tells me to try googling a cash for cars type place. I registered in for a free quote to 4 or 5 sites. In 20 mins, I got one guy calling, saying that my asking price ($7k) was perfect, and he'll buy it sight unseen, but the amount may vary, however not lower than $6,500. I listed the vehicle as "fair" because it needs work. Perfect solution to pay off the lawsuit in one blow. I asked J to do this a year ago, and a few months ago. It was so wasy, I have no idea why he didn't. So, as of Monday at noon, I'll be vehicle-less, and suit-less.. and have slightly less stress! Something is finally looking up!

  • congrats! i hope it comes through. i would be cautious if someone wanted to offer me that kind of cash site unseen. i mean for all he knows it could have been in a flood or a major accident. just be careful!

what kind of car do you have? i think you have the same car i do or similar. i have a 2005 ford escape hybrid. is yours a mercury? i haven't had any problems with mine... i hope this isn't a tale of what's to come.

    good luck!

  • I'm really glad that something is finally looking up for you!!
  • It's a Mazda Tribute, so it's the same exact car as the Ford Escape. Ford actually makes it for Mazda. The only differences are the packages and the emblem on the grill. As for the sight unseen thing.. I went through a cash for your car site. I got called back from 3 places, so if I don't like one, I have others to fall back on. The one I'm going through is Better Business Bureau certified, and has great ratings.
  • I hope it pans out for you!!

I have a 2003 Escape and while nothing major has happened with it. Its definetley has its own annoying quirks. This week it decided not to start after I had worked all day. B came up to the hospital got it started and we took it right to the mechanic. The mechanic couldn't find anything from and we picked it up the next day. That very evening it was hard to start again. This morning it fired up with no problem. So who knows whats wrong with it!

We've had nothing but problems with it. I think we got a lemon. In the past year, we've replaced both front axles, the alternator, the battery and the front end brakes. Last year we replaced the drive shaft, the drive belt and both headlights (both went at the exact same time). It needs a new front ball joint now (it's broken, the wheel can come off at any moment) and a wheel alignment. We've also had a problem with the tranny, but no mechanic can seem to pinpoint what exactly is wrong. Going up a slight incline, it grinds loudly, stutters, and gets caught in 2nd gear. And the cd changer burned out 2 years ago, with 6 of my cds stuck in it. Also, the oil change before last, the mechanic stripped the plug and the pan.. and that needs replacing as well. I'm done with it, as much as I love driving it.
