  One of Matt and my favourite (simple) ideas is to go on a night picnic.  We usually just set up outside on our patio, but sometimes we'll get the basket and blanket and go sit out by the water in a park somewhere with some wine (who cares if it's illegal to drink in public). Get some candles and simple food (don't spend all day making dinner to put into tupperware).  Eat a proper dinner at home, and then for the picnic, pack desert, or just baguettes, cheese, fruit, etc.  We just talk and snuggle.  For whatever reason, we sometimes end up playing yahtzee (no, this is not code for sex, we genuinely like the game).

  I left the Christmas lights up around the windows, so I've come home a few times to those plugged in, candles lit, and Zach making dinner for us. It usually ends with snuggling up on the couch watching movies.Or I've been taken out to dinner and a movie a few times, too.

  DH's birthday is Friday-we're going somewhere a little nicer before grocery shopping

  For us it is a wave runner ride to a restaurant on the lake and drinks on a porch at sunset. Also drinking wine in the hot tub.

  Another one we have done is dinner at a fondue place. It takes a while and you can cook for each other and share.

  Or if you have a fondue pot (or can borrow one or two) have a fondue dinner at your house. Just the two of you. I personally like the chocolate fondue part. For our 1 year engagement we melted a chocolate easter bunny and added godiva chocolate liquor.

  There is a chain called the Melting Pot. Maybe there is one where you live. My batchelorette party was there.
