Let's talk names

I'm bored and have visited just about every Bump board in existence today.

So, mom's-to-be...what baby names are on your list right now?

Re: Let's talk names

  • We obviously have Jude picked out but have NO clue what we are going to do for a middle name.  We thought we had it set but then second guessed :(

  • Wyatt is our default.  We both really like it but I'm having a hard time saying it's "the one."  Our hesitation is primarily that it's DCP's 2 year old son's name. I know our kids won't be there forever but it's in the back of our minds.

Zachary is also on our list. We both like it but H doesn't like it quite as much as Wyatt.

I recently added Will to my list but I haven't run that past H. I doubt he'll like it.

And, finally, I can't get Graeme/Graham out of my mind. I really really love it!  H didn't veto it but he says he automatically thinks of graham cracker :(

  • My DH is in love with Landon. I was at first and we had settled now I"m 2nd guessing and he doesn't want to change it :) Reid for a middle name right now?!

  • We almost did Nathan, Brendan, Jonah, Noah, Sameul.

I really like Graham.  There is a kiddo at daycare named that.

  • Here are some names of kids in K's class that I haven't heard of before or don't hear often:  Kasen, Flint, Josah

That's all I have.  But if you do go with Graham, don't spell it funky!  :)  PS- I like all of your options!

Graham was on our list for Anders, I like it!

Right now, we have nothing. S and I have yet to even discuss names seriously, he's working way too much until the end of October, so we have November-LO's due date to figure out some name options. At this point, he/she is 2.0.

Not a mom-to-be, but here are some on my list for future possibilities:

    Jack
    Michael
    William
    Tyler
Kaitlyn (hey, you always need to think about the possibility that the u/s was wrong, right?) Stick out tongue

Other names that are great, but not on our list b/c we don't want to look like we're picking a favorite family member: Scott, Benjamin, Andrew, Nicholas

Graeme is funky?!  It's a common Scottish spelling :)

  • I think Graeme is funky.  Looks like you tried too hard to be unique.

It's the spelling before it was Americanized.  I love it!

It's funky maybe because it's Scottish and I am not.  I've never seen it spelled that way.  I prefer a good old standard spelling.  :)  And I may be the minority (becuase I never read things right) but if you hadn't put Graham, I would have had no clue how to pronounce Graeme.

  • One of my best friends sons name is Graham.  Its cute and it fits him.  My list included: Hudson, Callum, Alexander, Ashton, Boston (my husband said never, ever, ever would this happen) and Brady.  Thats what I can think of off the top of my head. I thought boys names were harder than girls

This is not Scotland, however.  I would find it extremely unlikely that anyone would ever spell his name correctly. I've never in my life seen this spelling. I think I am sensitive to this b/c my Mom's name was "misspelled" (she felt) and she actually legally changed it when she was around 45 years old b/c she was just so tired of it.

Uniqueness does come with some potential difficulties for the kiddo, is all I'm saying.

Graham is lovely, like that a lot.

We considered John (Jack), Ryan, Benjamin, Patrick, Thomas, Colin, William. For a girl we considered Caroline & Eleanor most strongly.

  • I haven't heard/seen it spelled Graeme before. I would not have guessed that it was pronounced the same as Graham. I probably would've said Gray-m or Gray-mey. Just my 2?.

I really liked Hudson or Harrison but they were way too trendy for my husband.

Yep, exactly that.  One of my FB friends had a baby and posted a pic of their (expected) baby's room and had the letters "GRAEME" on the wall and I could not, for the life of me, figure out how it was pronounced.  I don't remember how I ever did figure it out - LOL!

    I do like Graham, though!

Unless he doesn't look like one, it sounds like we're settled on Joah James.

And, for my haterz:  It's a real name!  ;)

  • I don't have any boy names to toss out there, we never could agree on one. Thankfully we are having a girl lol. Our little one will be named Sophie Lou.

I really do like the name Graham though! My boss has a nephew by that name and it fits him perfectly. Adorable :)

Graham is on our list, too.  H likes Graeme which we both have heard of because of the golfer Graeme McDowell but we would spell it Graham.

  • I like the name Graham, but unless you're putting the kid in a kilt, I'd spell it the "American" way.  :)  I wouldn't have known how to say it as well.

Not a really a fan of Wyatt either, sorry.  :(  Not sure I like how it sounds with E's name.

My BIL is named Evan.  He has a brother named Nathan, and those two sound good together.

    Evan and Nathan.

If you are planning on moving to Scotland I say go for it...if you are staying in the United States I would spell it Graham.

I know a little boy named Wyatt...he is a total cutie! But...I can't help but think Wyatt Earp when I hear that name:)
