FTS Friday

Re: FTS Friday

  • This is work related, so it's not relatable, but I need to vent here before I vent at my boss. This week on one case we had a mediation on Wednesday a pretrial conference on Thursday and a trial on Monday on a HUGE case. The attorney on the case gets super stressed, and then passes that stress around the office. I spent 9.5 hours at the office on Tuesday helping to get things ready, and will probably be doing the same today (I get straight pay for 7.5 hours a day, so this won't be factored into my paycheck). I've been in the office for two hours and have already had to call one place 4 times because super stressed attorney doesn't tell me everything he needs, and since I can't read his mind, I don't ask all the needed questions. He then wants me to schedule a deposition for "either this afternoon or tomorrow, I'm not sure of the name of the deponent yet, or what time they'll be available, but get the court reporter on board with this". Um... ok.

If I didn't already hate my job, I would by tonight.

    Alex is getting a cold.

    Sam has fleas.

    FTS!

  • I'm almost 36 weeks and DH has to go out of town (8-9 hours away) for about a week starting Sunday and there's still a bunch of things that need done (that he has to do because it's too physical for me at this point) before Tessa arrives.

Plus, I hate being home alone at night. This blows.

  • I have my Q3 review today w/ my boss.  Last review was kind of "meh" and.......I cried.  CRIED IN HIS OFFICE.  Hormones, much?  I had a mediocre review, was made to feel dumb b/c I had to 'grade' myself and gave myself a much better grade than he gave me and then had him ask me what I wanted to do to develop my career, 'where did I see my career in 3 years'. and............cue tears.

I am desperately hoping the same doesn't happen today.

Aww!  Good luck Naylon, keep us posted!

I'm just drowning in paperwork here.  Ever since I transferred I now have a higher case load.  I'm happy I'm being given more responsibility but I Feel like I'm drowning.  Every time I catch up a little bit, here comes more.  Ugh.

    Anniversary

Aw, good luck!! I dropped a rant on my boss yesterday about self-reviews and about how it was stupid and at the end of the day all that mattered was what he thought of me anyway. Something I type up that he reads for 5 minutes isn't going to change his impression of me over the last year or so.

He still made me do it lol.

I just haaaaaaate the rating thing. You rate too high and you're seen as over-confident and you may feel dumb when you don't get the same rating from your boss. You rate too low and it's like your fishing for compliments or that you have no confidence.

STUPID. Anyway, I'll be thinking about you today. Just wanted to commiserate.

    Happiest place on Earth!

How do you schedule a deposition for the same day?  Or even next day?  Even in the "rocket docket" in the E.D. of Virginia, they require 7 days notice.  That's crazy.  If I were the deponent's counsel or opposing counsel, I would throw a fit!

Opposing counsel is agreeable to the deposition. One of the few things he is agreeable with.

  • I am very "over" my job.  I stay angry/frustrated all the time and then I can't sleep because I'm stewing over A, B, or Z.  Blah.
