Could Whitney be worse? (SP)

There really aren't any spoilers in this post because I could only watch 2 minutes of each episode.  I swear every other commercial I see is for Whitney and (IMO) this show sucks, hard.  The over acting, the laugh track, the obvious jokes just don't work with the other shows on NBC on Thursdays. I think I hated this show before it even started with all the promos they were running.

I think it might even be worse than Outsourced.
I saw a Spanish guy doing the Bartman.

Re: Could Whitney be worse? (SP)

  • I watched the first one and thought they were really pushy with the punchlines. It does seem really forced. I think if maybe they tried harder on making a good storyline instead of trying to built it around punchlines it might work.

Her other show, 2 Broke Girls, is the same way.  It's all about the punchlines.  It gets old fast.

And I just didn't find last night story line amusing in the least.  They took what could have been a cute idea (going out on a "first" date), but they pushed it WAY too far.

At least the BF says all the things that I think most of the audience is thinking.... ;)

    I really liked OutsourcedEmbarrassed

I haven't seen Whitney yet, I DVRd last night's episode though, so I'll soon have an opinion on it.

  • I loved Outsourced. Whitney is terrible.

Is she in Two Broke Girls, or did she write it?  That looks awful too, so it makes sense.

  • I thought I deleted the season pass from my DVR but it recorded last night so I guess not. I guess I'll torture myself and watch this one last time... LOL

Created by and I think a writer too - but I'm not sure.  She's definitely not in it.  We watched the first 2 episodes and have since deleted it from our DVR.

  • Last night was the first time I gave it a chance and I could only get through the first couple of minutes.

It says it's recorded in front of a live studio audience, but there are still definitely laugh tracks. And they're so horrible and far too frequent.

Every single line is so forced.

  • I got through about 10 minutes of the first episode and turned it off.

Agree with what everyone else is saying...very forced, all about the punch lines which I don't think are funny anyway, horrible laugh track.

  • SN: Does anyone else have de ja vu feelings of Will and Grace's apartment when they watch this show?? Confused
  • Well... I made it 6 minutes into episode 2 before deleting. I couldn't waste the 20some minutes of my life!

Surprise  Outsourced was hilarious! But yes, her show isn't good. At all. I do like 2 Broke Girls though.

  • i keep hearing how bad Whitney is (i've never seen it and don't intend to watch it), however, it's been booked for an entire season...go figure!

  • The movie seems to be universally hated; so who is this woman, whom I've never heard of prior to this new TV cycle, sleeping with?
  • We watched the 2nd episode and we couldn't even make it through the entire thing. We will not being ever watching it again. They seemed very childish to me.
  • I'm gonna be the odd one out here. DH and I love this show! We loved Outsourced too though, so we may just have a diff sense of humor.

agree.  I dont love it and I dont think it is the best thing on television but the first 2 episodes were better than a lot of other comedies that I have seen on TV.

    we also loved Outsourced.

    Ditto this.

  • Eh I kinda like the show. I think it's a nostalgia thing...the whole laugh track/live studio audience/punchlineyness of it all just reminds me of 90s TV lol

I think this may be it for me too.  I kind of like it also.   Same with 2 Broke Girls.  They are cheesy sitcoms and if they made me laugh (which they both do) they have done their job.  But I don't judge most shows too harshly.  There are shows that I LOVE that H and I dedicate an hour to watching each week and there are shows like those two that I have on while I'm surfing the internet or something.
