Are you going to get/give LO a flu shot?

We got a card yesterday to let us know flu shots are ready at our pedi.  But last year we had him get the shot and he got the flu 2 times.  The Dr told us there were 3 types of flu going around and he got 2 of them.  I almost feel like its not worth it.

He has been in daycare since he was 8 wk old, but just started preschool this year. So he will always be around germs and is a pretty healthy kid.

  • DH, DD, and I all got our flu mist last week.  Collin will get his in January once he hits six months.  After working in healthcare for so long and it basically being required for my job its always just been a given.  Plus now Sophia being in preschool this year we will have far too many bugs being brought home as it is.  I will say that it would suck to get the flu after having the shot, but imagine how much worse it could have been if he didn't have the shot as its supposed to help reduce the symptoms and shorten the span of illness.

  • All 3 of us will get them.
  • I got h1n1 3 weeks AFTER getting my shot! That being said, it was having that shot in my system that saved my life...seriously! My girls get theirs in a few weeks and dh and I will get ours soon! Having a respiratory illness like that is not fun and if I can try to prevent myself from getting it, I will!!
  • DS1 and I always get one.  I have his appt set.  DS2 will get his when he turns 6 months old.  DH and I will get one somewhere.  I'm thinking of doing the flu mist myself, and have set DS1 to get one this year.

  • We're in the minority but we don't do flu shots. I'm not anti-vax at all. Just no flu shots.  :)

  • I'm sure my decision will be unpopular on this board. No, we are not giving Neena the flu shot (she didn't get one last year either) and we're not getting it either (neither of us has ever had one).

  • nope, my dh and i have never (as long as we can remember) got one. lo will not get one this year.
  • Yes, we all got the shot (well, only Ingrid did actually, the rest of us got the mist).  Adam brings home too much junk for us not to.

  • Yes, Carson will be getting the shot this year.  CJ's too young to get the shot so we'll all be getting the flu shot to try to keep it out of the house as much as possible.

  • Wes got his monday and I got mine last week. I didnt get one last year for the first time in years and I paid for it. I was so ice with the flu for 5 days that I barely left the bed and didn't feel tons better for at least a week... Dh probably won't make the effort.
