I am hearing rumors that may have been the SERIES finale. Thoughts?

That's been a rumor this entire season but nothing has been confirmed.
Showtime posted a video on their YouTube channel the day after the finale. It was an interview with the producer and she said that the finale set up many possible story lines for "more seasons". Hopefully this means it isn't over, because I can't take that ending!
I have been hearing the entire season that this could very well be the end of the season.
I agree, that last episode isn't the "best" way to end it but it was sufficient enough.
If it was the series finale, that actually doesn't bother me. I think we would be meant to assume that someone (and it doesn't matter who) came back and Nancy is dead. Shane will be a cop, Andy and Silas will both move on, and even Jill will be happy (now that she- we assume- left her husband). It's a pretty solid series finale if that's what it is.

I agree-I think that since the whole family was together and "happy" that it very well could be the series finale. If it wasn't Nancy who got shot, maybe the shooter was shot? I always thought the series would end with Nancy being killed or going into hiding.
I agree!!
Prior to the sound of the gunshot, it seemed like an obvious series ending with all of them together and trying to make it work. I would not have expected the drama w/ Silas and her sister to be wrapped up if the show were coming back. If Nancy was actually shot and killed, in the long run, it frees everyone else to finally live their own lives.
Having said all of that, ideally it would be nice to know for sure ahead of time! I know a lot of people gave up on the show but would have likely tuned in to this finale if it were clearly the series finale.
SN: This felt so similar to the Sopranos ending....
