Do you take notes during an interview?

I have a panel interview next week and there's no way I'll be able to remember the names. Plus I'm a big fan of writing things down in general...
fiizzlee = vag ** fiizzle = peen ** Babies shouldn't be born wit thangs ** **They're called first luddz fo' a reason -- mo' is supposed ta come after. Yo Ass don't git a medal fo' marryin yo' prom date. Unless yo ass is imoan. I aint talkin' bout chicken n' gravy biatch. Then yo ass git a all-expenses paid cruise ta tha Mediterranean n' yo ass git ta hook up Jared Padalecki on tha flight over while bustin yo' jammies. But still no medal.

Re: Do you take notes during an interview?

  • I have been known to take notes. You can always ask if they don't mind if you do.

ETA: As far as names go, you may get an itinerary or business cards. At the very least I'd ask for contact info at the end of the interview.

  • I do. I write down their names but still ask for business cards b/c of spelling ect.

It also helps me remember points to mentioned in my TY and while I''m still interviewing.

  • When I find that I need to and should, yes, I do. I also ask for business cards or try to find their information on a company website prior to my interview so I know proper spelling, titles, etc. I also ask for business cards.
  • Typically I would take notes during the interview so that I could recall key items I wanted to follow up on or mention in my thank you note. However, I would always ask if the interviewer minds the note-taking before you pull out your notebook. This lesson came to me after one interviewer irritably asked if I was "ready" as I was jotting down some important things that she had just mentioned.

If you're not sure whether its ok or you don't want to ask, one way to go is not to take notes, but to scribble down as much as you can as soon as you exit the interview.

    Good luck!
