  I bought the Gladware type containers, lined the bottom with wax paper, packed the cookies and put another piece of wax paper on top and then put the container's lid on.  Some people put a piece of bread in with the cookies.

  I use a seal a meal. I take out most of the air and then seal it. It it by far the best way to send cookies that I've found. They are still soft when they arrive. I also make sure to put them in there as soon as they cool from the oven. I've done it with brownies, cupcakes and tons of cookies.

  We have a Food Saver and I bake cookies once a week and mail them when H is deployed.  Some of his packages took up to 4 weeks to get to the ship, and he said no matter how long it had been they always tasted like I had just made them that morning when he opened the package.

  Holy crap, that's a long time!  This is the first deployment he's been on since we've been together, so this is new to me

  It just really depends.  It was pretty standard that it was usually about 2 weeks, but around the holidays it took longer, and when the ship was moving around a lot it would take longer.  It also depends on the size of the box and type of shipping you do.  I almost always use the large flat rate boxes, but once in a while if he needed something big sent (like a new sleeping bag) or something really small and sent quick I'll do different size packages and they can take longer sometimes.
