Random food/hostess question
We have friends over almost every weekend during football season. Last weekend, I made snacks and some guests brought snacks as well. This weekend it's a later game....so I'm going more "meal" food. I plan to make a
pizza casserole. I
planned to do it with ground turkey, wheat pasta, light cheese. As, that's how I cook for DH and I, and we like turkey and wheat pasta. Last week, we got into a discussion specifically about using ground turkey as a replacement for ground beef. 2 friends, a couple, said they tried turkey once and hated it. (I didn't ask specifics of what they did with it.) They'll be back this weekend for food at football. Should I make my meal my way or their way? haha I want to be a good hostess and I HATE to waste food, so I'm leaning towards their way. But, part of me is like "It'll be good! Just try it! I promise!"
Re: Random food/hostess question
If I didn't know that they disliked one of my normal ingredients, then I'd make it my way just because it's become a lifestyle choice for me.
I also expect that when I go to other people's homes that they will often have unhealthy choices (which is why I tend to make a healthy version of something yummy when I go to potlucks, this way I always have something to eat).
Since they explicitly stated that they don't like turkey, then I'd use lean ground beef. I feel like you could still get away with the whole wheat pasta IMO but if it's not a big deal to you then just go with regular pasta.
I made this pizza casserole for dinner tonight, using ground turkey & turkey pepperoni. DH liked it! We'll be adding it to our list of favorite meals!
