Whats your childs favorite book?

I have a baby shower this weekend for my cousins baby. She was born early so we are doing it after now. Its a toy and book party.

Whats some of your childs favorite books? I thought about Good Night Moon, but its so popular I'm sure it would be a duplicate!

Re: Whats your childs favorite book?

  • Right now, his favorite ones to "read" are:
    -Hug by Jez Alborough
-10 Little Ladybugs by Melanie Gerth
-I can Skate (Canadian book, I can't remember the author)

My favorite ones to read to him are:
-Make Way for Ducklings by Robert McClosky
-Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin

Anything by Chris Van Allsburg (Polar Express, Jumanji, etc...) is a good bet as well.

  • God Gave Us You and God Gave Us Two are two of my favorites that were giving to me when they were little.

We have a really nice children's bible stories book that they used to love reading when they were little.

Now we mostly read about Sharks....and Star Wars.  :)

  • My older son is really into Berenstain Bears right now (ugh, they are so bible beater & preachy, I have to internally Confused sometimes but they have sweet messages).

For a new little one I love the idea of getting them a nice hardback Eric Carle (they are all good) with your handwritten note inside. The books my family/friends have given us with sweet notes inside make me smile every time I read them to my boys.

  • We like Shake a Leg...

    No Matter What.

  • Llama Llama books are cute with fabulous cadence and rhyme. They're fun to read and Owen yells, "Mama Mama You came BACK!" when I pick him up from daycare because of that book. never gets old! :-)

Dinosaurs Love Underpants by Claire Freedman and Ben Cort- It rhymes a lot and while it's not as rhythmically as amazing as the Llama Llama books, Owen loves it because it's about underwear. (boys!!) :-)

Anything by Mo Williams is AWESOME! He does all of the Pigeon books as well as Elephant and Piggy books which are super fun because they're meant to be acted out. We do a Mo Williams week each year in my classroom and we practice acting out the stories and presenting them to the class. It's not real good in Kindergarten but they LOVE it and it gives them another way to interact with literature.
