Wedding Gift Help

My dear friend is getting married next weekend and I still haven't bought them a gift. I want to get them something meaningful and unique but I'm having a hard time figuring something out.

They love food and wine, good and ecclectic music, camping, fishing, hunting, going to the farmer's market, and chilling at home

I really wanted to do the 12 months of dates, but I just don't think I can afford that. :-(

I'm looking at a $100-$125 price range. If anybody has some great ideas, please do share. THANKS!

Re: Wedding Gift Help

  • What about one date? Is there a local culinary school they can take a class at?  Or what about a night (or two if not too $$$) at a local B&B?  A little honeymoon for later kind of thing.  Bonus points if you find a B&B to match their likes (known for food, or for using local / farmer's market produce, etc).

Or, different idea, what about a local wine shop where you can get good recs for a few bottles and give them one for their one month anniversary, after their first squabble, etc.  You can make up some occasions for which they open/drink the wine.   If you Google this I know there are similar ideas.

  • I second naylon's ideas... A friend of mine did the wine basket ideas for ouf wedding & it was so much fun to have. I think she did honeymoon, first night at home together, first fight , first dinner party, first baby & first anniversary. She had found little poems for each online & tied them to the bottles & wrapped them in tulle.
  • I love fun wedding gifts and get frustrated when I can't think of something perfect for the couple.  My two favorites so far have been:

    1) Couple registered for a wine rack.  I bought it and filled it with "meaningful" bottles of wine: one from where we live, one from where they live, one from where we all met and one that had an awesome name ("Alexander's Conquest" and the groom was Alexander).  We then put it in a basket with some of our other "favorites"-chocolates from the local chocolate shop (from where they live), tickets to a big tourist attraction in the city near them, gift card for great restaurant nearby, etc.

    2) Couple loves to cook/bake and loves holidays, so I got embroidered xmas stockings, 1st xmas ornament, great holiday cookbook, cookie cutters and fun baking pan.

I think anything thoughtful will be meaningful to the couple!
