Please recommend your vacuum or tell me what not to get!

I am replacing my Hoover Wind Tunnel because it's a piece of sh*t.

Do you love your vaccum? Why?

Re: Please recommend your vacuum or tell me what not to get!

  • I have a Bissel Lift-Off. DH loves it. He does the vacuuming in our house.

You don't have to haul the whole vacuum around. You can remove the dust canister and the hose and leave the main part of the vacuum behind. The only carpet we have is on the stairs (everything else is wood or tile) so we have almost no use for the main part of the vacuum.

It does a really good job picking up dirt and hair.

It works really well on furniture as well as carpet.

It was about $150 when we bought it nearly 3 years ago.

  • Haha!  I came in to recommend my Hoover Wind Tunnel because I really like it.  Nevermind.

  • I was going to recommend not getting the Bissel lift off. It is less than 3 years old and DH and I plan on buying a new vacuum. I really liked the hand held option to clean stairs and the fact that you can take the canister off when needed. After six months, the hand held hose had very poor suction. Otherwise, it is pretty good on the carpets.

  • I love my Miele Carina!  It is super light and gets under everything.  We don't have carpet and we do have a dog and 2 kids, so I love that I don't have to move any couches or anything to get all the dog hair that congregates under there.  :)

I got it awhile back from Bed Bath and Beyond with a 20% off coupon.

We also have a Dyson ball that DH had to get for work.  I only use it occasionally on our 1 rug.  It is heavy and does not get under any furniture, I can't imagine vaccuuming with it all the time or carrying it around the house.  But it does work well on that one rug!  And it is messy, dust comes out everywhere every time I empty it, even if I put it all the way to the bottom of the garbage.

  • We have 3 dogs and love, love, love the Dyson Animal!
  • Miele bolero. Picks up everything on hardwood and carpet. Easy to push and move around furniture, goes flat under tables, has a bag and hepa filter (if you use bag less you just release all the dust you just sucked up in the air when you dump it).

  • We have a Dyson and it is the BEST vacuum EVER!!! We have had it for several years and it has been worth every penny.  You can take it apart down to the smallest pieces to clean it and it NEVER clogs. Worth the money.

  • We have a dyson and abolutely love it. We bought it when DH vaccum died and were shocked at what it picked up in our carpets that we thought were clean from the other vaccum.

  • I have Miele Titan.  It has cut my dusting more than in half.  Do a quick google search and you'll find it's the only residential true sealed HEPA vac.  All others put the fine particles back in the air, even Dyson.  There is a great Youtube video showing comparisons.  I'm on my phone so I can't link but search miele videos and it's the first result.
  • We have the Dyson Animal, and I recommend it 100%, whether you have a pet or not.  It works wonders, and it is SO EASY to clean!!  It is a pricey vacuum but the clean up power and warranty is worth it!!
  • Dyson Animal on the Ball.  Love it.
  • I like our Electrolux Versatility. I have 6 cats (yes I am a crazy cat lady!) and it does amazing on the cat hair. I also like the fact that it is bagless. I hate vacuum bags! The canister is so easy to pull out and empty.

  • I have a rainbow Vaccum! They are a little pricey but so worth the money. I know a lady that has had hers for 25 years. If you call and ask for a demo and then buy one they may give you something free.
