Labeling quilts?

Do you label quilts that you give as gifts?  If so, how do you do it?

Re: Labeling quilts?

  • I like labels. I have found some good tutorials on-line about using transfer paper to make the label. Make it on the computer, flip the image and then iron on fabric. It was easier then trying to get the fabric to go through the printer for me.

  • There's also a method I've used in which you use a regular stamp and ink onto tweed tape and set it with the iron. Then you put some heat n bond tape on the back of it to stick it to the quilt.

  • I finally gave in and ordered labels on Etsy, but right now I just sign them in the quilting until those are finished.

  • I take a scrap of fabric left over from the quilt top, use a micron pen to write their name, my name, washing instructions and sometimes the date then hand stitch it to the back.
  • I just hand embroider my initials and the year on the back with a coordinating color to the rest of the quilt.
