Seattle Nesties
Dear Community,
Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

Thank you.

I currently live in the Milwaukee area, but my husband was contacted by Amazon.com and asked to interview there (he's a computer programmer). I am wondering if anyone works at Amazon.com or has a spouse that works there and can give me some insight to how they like it.
Also, if we are to relocate, what are good areas to live in? I have never been to Seattle so I am completely clueless. We have an 18 month old son so we'd want somewhere family friendly and safe. TIA!
Re: Need Input
I would review glassdoor.com's reviews and go from there:

If I was interviewing at amazon, I would want to know the overturn rate in that group.
I worked there for just over 6 years until last year. I left mostly because I just needed to do something new. It's a great place to work and I may go back someday, though it feels like a huge company in a way that it didn't when I joined in 2004.
Here's a Google Map centered on Amazon's campus. Parking is expensive, so you guys may want to try living along one of the many bus lines that go through that neighborhood. H can definitely have a one-bus commute while still living in a house with a yard.
EDIT: The thing Jennlin says about cash salary versus stock is sort of true. You sort of get stuck at the cash salary you were hired at, with only small raises that are sometimes less than inflation. If you have good reviews you can get that fixed, or you can quit and come back
