Where do you buy appliances?

You all know I need a new stove.  I've been researching them to death.  I got an email about a home depot sale.  Went there to check them out and was disappointed in the in store selection.  Also the sales clerk was trying to talk me out of basic things (in my eyes) like 5 burners and convection, saying they are a waste and not needed.

I need to suck it up and get to Sears this week and just order my damn stove.  Please share your fav places to look and mainly touch appliances.

Thanks.

Re: Where do you buy appliances?

  • Lowes, Home Depot, Sears, Best Buy are all places I would check out.  There is a Sears outlet in Wheaton too where you can get discontinued and lightly scratched items. You might want to check that out.
  • Sears is usually our go-to,either the regular store ,or the outlet. They also have one in Timonium, near the fairgrounds. We bought our 5 burner gas stove there earlier this year - March, I think. We have also looked at Lowe's and Home Depot.

  • I prefer Lowes. I know a lot of people like Sears but I have heard quite a few stories about really bad delivery/customer service. My coworker ordered a washer/dryer from there and actually cancelled his order because after 3 weeks, they kept bailing on his delivery and couldn't seem to give him any sort of date for rescheduling. After listening to him rant for weeks it kind of made me wary of purchasing from there. I too found the selection at HD kind of disappointing and no one there was very helpful when we were looking.

  • We've bought a dishwasher from Sears. Is it sad that's our only big appliance purchase??

  • We've bought our fridge, washer, and dryer from Lowes.  A three appliances were cheaper elsewhere and Lowes priced matched without missing a beat.  Then we also have a Lowe's credit card and we elected to use that so we had interest free financing for something ridiculous like 18 months.
  • We've been pretty happy w/ Lowes and Sears.  I bought a microwave at HH Gregg a few weeks ago there and they seemed pretty knowledgeable and helpful too.

  • We have ended up buying all of our appliances at Sears because we're able to get the best deal there.  We shop all over but bought there.

  • Since March 2010, we've bought a washer, dryer, refrigerator and stove from Sears. We've never had any problems with the delivery or the installation. In fact, we originally bought the washer and dryer from Best Buy. We waited 3 weeks to get them in and then they could only deliver at 6:00PM on a Saturday.Normally, not a big deal, but we had bought tickets for a concert several months prior. They refused to give us a different time and said we'd have to wait another week or two since they don't do Sunday delivery. We returned them and ended up buying at Sears. We bought them Friday night and they were delivered that Sunday.

Sears also had the best deal.

After the whole BB incident, DH and I refuse to buy anything from there that we cannot carry out ourselves.

  • I'm going to go to Sear's this week and see what they can do for me.  I might have to make the trip to the sears outlet too, wonder how much that might save me.  I'm super cheap when it comes to some purchases.

we plan to pay cash so credit card incentives don't wow me.

  • For the price at the outlet, I think we saved about 40%. After installation and old appliance haul away (since it was gas and there was extra stuff to do), we ended up paying the same price for a better stove at the outlet. I think installation, etc. was $300. We didn't do a credit offer, either. So, IF you can find something, it really is worth the trip :)

We got some incentive card from Lowe's where we opened up an credit card account, then got $500 worth of GC for opening the account.  We just paid off the account immediately and still got the GC.

now that would wow me.  sears is offering 5% off, that's only a 40 dollar savings.  that is not worth it to me to open a credit card.
