We went car shopping with my FIL and I test drove several SUV's.
We drove a Landrover and a Volkswagon Toureg, and a Acura MDX.
I loved all of them alot. We are looking at getting one around the summer so we have time but was curious how these rated.
Re: Opinions needed: SUV's
I love all three of those cars, but the Acura is the best as far as reliability ratings are concerned. VW's are notorious for having very expensive problems, and I don't think Land Rovers are much better. From a performance standpoint, I think the VW may be the best. It all boils down to what you prefer out of a car.
You may want to check into the Volvo XC 60 and 90 as well. They perform very well, have pretty good reliability, AND take regular gas.
Click it if you can't say it!
We currently have an MDX and we used to have a Range Rover. There were huge reliability issues with the Range Rover. It was all covered under warranty, but it was still a pain to deal with it. We sold it before the warranty was up because there is no way we were comfortable owning it without a warranty.
Love our MDX.
So Tasty, So Yummy
Although not a Toureg, DH has a VW (work car), and he is also always getting something repaired. Door locks - they either get stuck locked or unlocked. I think he's had those fixed twice. Brakes have been worked on, seat belt has been worked on, loud engine noises - just random things. I'm just glad it's a work car, so we aren't having to keep up with the maintenance! Maybe he just got a lemon!
ETA: He's not even had the car 3 years, yet, and it was brand new when he got it.
Same. Mine was in the shop 19x in 3yrs. It was the 2nd biggest disappointment of my life.
I had a VW that had a ton of problems too. I loved that car and was sad it was not better built.
