Why don't people RSVP?

I just don't get it. For this shower I have 12 Yes, 3 No and 13 that don't have the time to call, text or FB me a response! I spent part of yesterday morning sending FB messages to people, some of which I do not know, to find out if they are coming or not. From that I've gotten 3 more confirmed yes (one of which asked if they could bring a friendHmm) and one more confirmed no. I'm going to be so happy when this shower is over!

  • can i come! i always rsvp. lol
  • Ugh people can be so inconsiderate.  I think people believe you just assume they are coming.  True story- my MIL and one SIL did not RSVP to my bridal shower which was a sit down lunch so my hostesses needed their meal selection.  They literally had to call them to find out if they were coming and what they wanted to eat.  Their answer- why did they have to RSVP and they also didn't know you had to pick something to eat.  Didn't you read the invitation?  Don't you talk to others in the family?  I just don't get people's manners today.

  • Same thing happened to me with my husband's 30th birthday last month. I had (get ready for it) 32 people not RSVP. Most to all of them were his friends and I had no way of contacting (read stalking) them. I had no idea how much food to order and so to make sure I didn't run out, I counted the extra 32 people in. About 14 of the 32 non-rsvp'ers ended up showing up. I tried to make it as easy as possible by letting people call, txt or email me but apparently people just don't care.

Luckily for DH's 30th, I was able to make it really clear in the invitation that if they didn't RSVP, they were going to have to wait in line, not get in early, pay for their concert ticket and not be on the list for the the open bar. I still had to track down people, but only two or three and I knew everyone that was invited pretty well.

But with this shower, I totally feel like a stalker. I was fbing people through the baby daddy's page because not even my stepsister was friends with them. So awkward!

  • it happened for little man's christening too.  the funny part is most of our friends rsvp'ed.  a lot of the in-laws did not.  so dh and mil had the fun job of tracking them down.  grrrrrr, this just irks me.  it takes 2 mins or less, an email with snoopy baby shower in the subject and yes i will be there or no sorry is all that is needed.  doesnt take that long.

  • i don't get this either.  its so simple, either yes you are going to come and get a free meal or no you're not coming to get your free meal!!

  • We actually cancelled a party once because we we had only about 5 people out of 30ish RSVP, even with Evite reminders sent out asking them to reply.  I was so pissed!  I find it to be so rude - especially with Evite because you can tell whether or not someone viewed the invite.  Grrr!

Hope you don't have to stalk much longer!

  • I've had to FB stalk strangers for several showers that I've helped host.  I provide people with several different options to RSVP, yet I still had to hunt them down a week before the event.  I wish it was socially acceptable to have barred them from the actual shower.
