grumble grumble (back to monday)

good morning, everyone.

hope you all had a nice weekend!

it was cold and rainy here.  i baked.  i ran (my last long run before the race!  indoors, on a treadmill...ew). i saw "contagion."  I made braised short ribs (ww has made my pallet turn on rich foods.  i had 2 short ribs and thought i was going to die.)  watched some friday night lights, did some errands, and did some minor cleaning.  all in all a very low key weekend.

was in bed by 8:30 last night (feeling ill due to neck problems and the short ribs.  lethal combination).  feeling slightly better this morning.

this all sounds extremely boring, yes?

Re: grumble grumble (back to monday)

  • Last week crawled by and the weekend flew by. Seriously, it's Monday, again?

We had a boring weekend. I took a half day Friday after my doctor's appt considering it would've been 2:00 by the time I drove all the back across town, I just decided to go home. I didn't find much out from the doctor. She gave me a Rx so I can get a period and then she wants me to start charting to keep track of everything. They drew some blood...I was not happy. And since I'm scheduled to go back in November for my yearly anyway, we scheduled an ultrasound to check things out on the inside. I can't wait....

Saturday, I took mama to get her hair cut/dyed for her party this weekend since the hair lady won't be in town this weekend then we went to grab lunch but that never happened bc mama's bff (my 2nd mom) called balling bc her husband had just run over the dog, by accident. :( So that was our afternoon/evening.

Yesterday, church then rearranged the living room and decided on some things for the party (yay!). Daddy was a HUGE help (another  yay!). We didn't leave til almost 9 last night and got home 2 hours later.

That's about it. I have a super busy week with 6 meetings this week (boo!).

    Sorry I rambled so much!

Edit: J has an interview this morning at 9:45...fingers crossed he gets it!!

  • Shauni, your weekend sounds divine.

Em - I'm afraid to ask, but was the dog okay?

Went camping this weekend and ended up getting rained out Saturday evening and Sunday.  We were home by noon, I unpacked the camper, cleaned the litter boxes, did 5 loads of laundry, my parents dropped the cat off.  Didn't even get to the sink full of dishes since DH came down with the flu, and I love him but he's a whiny mofo when he's sick, so I was also taking care of him on top of taking care of the baby.  He's home in bed, so I've got drop off and pick up duty from daycare.  Just hoping I don't catch whatever he's got.

  • Shauni - I agree, low key weekends are the best!

Susie - Sorry, apparently I didn't finish my train of thought but the dog didn't make it. :( As bad as it is, the dog was old, losing her sight, her teeth were getting bad and having joint problems too. Super sad afternoon nonetheless.

  • I'm here for a little bit. I'm off of work today, but I've got a bajillion things to do!

BIL's wedding was . . . interesting. There was much disorganization and chaos. I will summarize my two favorite parts. There was no assigned (or reserved) seating at the reception, which had tables of six in two row in a long room. So the wedding party and families got there later than everyone else (pictures) and had no place to sit! Second favorite thing: the spork and knife that came with a napkin and salt and pepper packets in a plastic bag a la:

So I spent my weekend traveling.

I think I'm going to take a nap this afternoon.

  • hey all!

seriously if the weekends keep flying by with the week dragging out, I might just have to crawl in a hole and never come out.

Weekend was ok.  J was hunting wtih FIL both days.  I started baby's quilt.  Had to walk away from it yesterday otherwise I was going to pick up my sewing machine and throw it out the window.  I think it's the fabric or something, but I kept finding places where (even though pinned) the back fabric moved and ended up not getting sewn in.  I kept having to redo parts and was going insane.

Woke up freezing this morning b/c 1.  J sleeps so freaking close to me that I have to have my arm that is in between us, out of the covers and over my head, which then results in me loosing feeling in the arm from not being able to move it, and freezing 2.  J had to sleep with a fan blowing directly on us. and 3. Found this out while I was getting ready- J opened up the bathroom window ALL THE WAY  and didn't close it. Not good when there is already a fan, heat isn't on, and it's cold enough outside for a frost advisory.

I seriously fear that by the time we're going onto our 10 year anniversary, we're going to be sleeping in separate beds, b/c I can't stand not being comfy and not having room!

Other than that, Wiscsonsin kicked butt in sports this weekend.  Had a great time watching the games.  Made a new recipe for Broc. and cheese soup yesterday which turned out amazing!

  • It was so hard to come to work today after being off 4.5 days. This week is a full week, booo, but the following 2 weeks will be 3 day weeks. We also had a relaxing weekend of watching sports. Expect we were with friends on Saturday (who are all 45 yrs old and older) and I felt like I was in high school the amount of drama that was going on between them was really sad and really uncomfortable especially since they were all drunk and I was stone cold sober.

  • I'm back from Mexico!  I got over my cold just in time, but got a visit from aunt Flo.  Boo.  We had a great time - and I got sunburned, which is turning into an awesome tan (looking at the positive here).

Yesterday, my sister and I went to see Newsies on stage!  It was Fan Day, and they had some of the original cast members (including Davey, Les and Spot Conlin!).  We had a blast and it was a great way to end my vacation.

I'm back at work, waiting for my boss to come in.  I'm still in limbo from that clusterf*ck that happened a week and a half before my vacation.  My boss doesn't think I'll be fired, but hopefully, they finally have an answer for me cause I'm tired of not knowing.

My deal is that I am going to murder your puppies and piss on your rainbows. -diablesse Lilypie Premature Baby tickers
  • Monday again?!?

Our weekend was busy. Had an anniversary party for H's grandparents. I made pickle wraps and since H had to work in the morning I was in charge of bringing everything and meeting him there. Fun fun. Lots of extended family, some I've never even met in my 10+ years with H. It's actually kind of funny that they have ask each other names b/c it's really beem that lomg since everyone was together.

Sunday was a workday. Mowing grandparents lawn (I plan on doing ours when I get home tonight...) and plowing up the garden for next year.... etcetc. Did not want to get out of bed for work this morning at all. Maybe I'll be able to cbeck.in sometime later, but if not.... I hope everyone has a great day!

  • QOA-That wedding sounds like one we went to a few weekends ago...plastic silverware at a wedding?  I always give the side-eye.

Emilee, glad you had a nice trip to Mexico!  I want to see pictures!

And now, for an AW I forgot when I posted above:

I lost 2 more pounds, grand total so far is 16.4.  I was hoping to be down 40 by now (oops) but I will take what I can get and I know I am on the right track.  I hope to lose 10 more pounds by the end of the year :) I KNOW I CAN DO THIS!

  • Morning! Whew. I am too old for weekends like these.

Friday night I made dinner, then we went to a mummer memorial for Paul. My archenemy and former friend turned liar and manipulative ahole beeotch was there, and I make her so uncomfortable. It's satisfying. We got home around 2:00, ate WaWa hoagies and went to bed.

Saturday I got up at 9, clipped coupons, and headed to get my hair cut and colored. After that I went to Target, Area Rugs Unlimited (bye bye gross living room area rug), and Redner's. At home I unloaded, had a sandwich, then we watched Parks & Rec and The Office. Showered and we headed to South Philly, where we watched the Phils and did the Relay For Life Pub Crawl. It was a total blast. I was behind bars in most places, rocked the jukeboxes and rode in a shopping cart down 2nd Street. Jenny wanted a cheesesteak so we went to Geno's and didn't get home until 3:30. Blah.

Sunday I slept until 12:30, then I basically watched TV all day. Hart of Dixie, Body of Proof, a bunch of food network, Criminal Minds, etc. I made a nice big dinner and watched the Phils with MFD and Effing Warren. I fell out on the couch after the last inning and stayed there.

My house is a total disaster but at least my errands are done and I had a really good time.

  • Em - so sorry about the dog, what a nightmare.

Susie - I think most men are babies when they're sick. It drives me insane.

Tbears - Pickle wraps? Do tell.

Shauni - You can do it! You will definitely lose 10 more by the end of the year. I lost two more last week for a total of 12. I am psyched to keep going with my five pounds down a month!

  • Shauni - When I was eating super healthy (wish I still was...), rich foods made me sick too.  My short rib recipe has a step where the fat gets drained off the sauce, so it doesn't have that same effect.  Plus we usually use lean stew meat instead of the short ribs because they're usually cheaper at my store and they're easier to shred, which the recipe calls for.

My weekend was pretty good.  Saturday we woke up early-ish, and went to the outlet mall because Jeff needed some fishing stuff.  I was so good and didn't buy a single thing!  Then I went to a Mary Kay party (a friend 'won' it at a bridal show) and Jeff went fishing.  Ever since we went out on the catfish boat last weekend, he has been obsessed with catching a big catfish on his own - he'd been trying for a while at a local reservoir for a looong time now, but after seeing the rig this guy had set up, he was convinced he could do it now (hence the trip to Bass Pro Shops to get supplies!).  Sunday we went back to the same place where our charter boat went, and he caught one!

  • Monday - boo :( My weekend was busy but good. Saturday morning, my dog and I met up with one of my aunts and we hiked this rim trail around one of the reservoirs, about 5 miles (and under 2 hours with big hills)...my quads, IT-bands and a$$ is still sore, lol. I got a haircut, went to Costco and then back to home. Yesterday, I took the dog to a dock diving competition to see if she would jump (I met up with the couple that fostered her to see their dogs jump and to catch up), she didn't but we'll try again this next weekend. It was a busy day and I was in bed at 9pm.

Oh, we also received an anonymous letter from a neighbor who states that they have pee spots from a female dog (they suspect and it was confirmed when another neighbor saw my dog and I outside and the dog peeing on their lawn) The letter states that she pees on two lawns, which is total BS because she's only peed on one (the other lawn is really perfect and I wouldn't let her stop there, the other lawn is drying up in parts). So, when J got home from work, he showered and changed and went to one of the houses we think sent the letter, the lady who answered the door new nothing about it (so maybe her husband sent it without her knowing) and the other house with a perfect lawn (which I don't let my dog even sniff at it) had a locked gate so J couldn't go up there. Ugh, just sign your name and tell me which freakin' house you live in so we can address you properly. End of rant.

  • Well hello Monday...you suck!

Weekend went by way to fast.  I did some serious shopping damage on Saturday.  Bought stuff at Old Navy, Kohls, H&M, and Nordstrom Rack.  The best deal I scored was a pair of Michael Kors sunglasses for $19.97.

Yesterday we cleaned house and watched football.  The Raiders got beat by the Pats (Xtine and Citygirl will be happy.  I am sad because my dad sold his truck.  He has had that thing for so many years and it was sad to see it go.

Today I am hitting the gym after work, then making spaghetti for dinner, and that is all.

  • Deb - So jealous of the shopping spree! Sounds fun!

Leo - Ugh on the neighbor...just fess up so thing can be changed. Not that big of a deal.

Update since my morning post: J got the job! (yay!!!) It's only PT and it's Thurs-Sunday nights. It'll be some adjusting especially with him working weekends but I don't think it's every weekend so hopefully not too much rearranging will have to be done on already made plans. But yay J has a job!!

    I echo all of this.

Steph, pickle wraps are yummo. I am forced (mostly by hubby, but other family as well) to bring them to any gathering. It's basically a slice of ham spread with cream cheese, then you wrap a pickle spear inside it. I usually then cut the roll into three pieces so you can down it in one bite. I'm sute they aren't that good for you, but they are usually almost gone, no mattet how many I make, so I figure they're good :)

  • Blurg, the interwebs ate my response.

Long story short, weekend was nice and relaxing, got some good shopping in.  Parents gave me a Le Creuset casserole for my b-day, which I'm excited to try.  MIL was being a bit annoying and H finally got annoyed, so thank you baby jesus.

And I'm on my work countdown, this is day 1 of my last 20 before maternity leave.  Yes!

    image
  • Tbears, I'm going to have to try that. Just regular cooked ham from the deli?

    I am exhausted from zumba.

    I need boots.

    The End.

    image
  • I use lunchmeat. Usually the cheap stuff actually. Also, you can also wrap those long onions instead of pickles. They are both good, but Hubby and most others in our family like the pickles better. Good luck. :)
