BWToddlers: What to do with old bottles
For those who have successfully gotten your kids off of bottles... what did you do with them? I know they can be sanitized and all, but I'm still thinking that we'll want to get fresh, new ones when we have a second kid. Is that crazy?
Did you just pitch them into the trash? I always feel bad throwing stuff like that into the garbage. I googled to see if they're recyclable at all, and found that people use them for a lot of things--but that still doesn't make me want to keep them around! I also read that some animal shelters/battered women's shelters take them.
Just curious what you've done with them. I'm probably overthinking this.

I should add that the ones we threw away were in bad shape. :-)

Hmm, OK. I got it into my head that bottles were sort of a "one user" type thing, and didn't think that they were designed to hold up through multiple kids. BUT, now that I see that so many of you have packed them away for future kiddos, maybe we will do the same.
Ours seem kind of grody, but maybe I will try to give them a good hard scrubbing and sterilize, pack them away and call it a day. We can reevaluate them when we're prepping for baby #2 some day!
We'll see if they come clean enough. We only ever had 6-7 bottles, just enough to get us through two days at daycare (had three to use when the other three were in the dishwasher, rinse, repeat), so I would say they took a good beating.

Heather, we only had 4 bottles, so I think that's why ours were so gross.

We have 4 small and 4 large. The smalls look new still, the large ones don't look new, but as long as they're clean, I don't want to buy more. Unless the little one decides she's not a fan of that brand.
This is what we have also. Marshall was sleeping through the night early (6 weeks) and from there on out he was on a pretty set eating schedule of every 4 hours...so we needed 4 bottles per day. I am hoping to re-use these bottles for Baby K but buying new nipples.
