Good morning! Weekend recaps?

I'm sleeeepy this morning.  It was a crazy busy weekend for us, but I'm happy that the rain pretty much held off the entire time we were running around, despite the weather forecast.

Saturday was the most running around.  Had to deal with a couple of our vehicles--maintenance on one, getting rid of another--and ran back and forth between the garage and a dealership multiple times, hit a couple of stores for a yarn crawl event (thanks for the tip, Dr.L!), went to the Boston Local Food Festival, and checked out an open house.

Yesterday we went to the cemetery and paid our respects to my grandparents.  Had lunch in Chinatown with my family and picked up some Chinese pastries for our friend's birthday GTG.  Hung out with them for a few hours, ran some errands, and did some chores.

And, just like that, we're back at Monday again.  Boo!

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: Good morning! Weekend recaps?

  • Yarn crawl? FUN! Did you guys buy a new car?

Our weekend was so busy, it flew by. The wedding we went to on Saturday night was really fun. We didn't know anyone there (DH knew a few people, but I didn't) but we met some cool people and there was an open bar, so it was all good.

Yesterday we went to a bunch of open houses in on of the 2 towns I'm pressuring DH about. He really liked the area and LOVED one of the houses, so I think we've made good progress on that front.

  • How was the Food Festival?  I'm bummed I wasn't in town to check that out.

I had a blast in PTown.  We found out when we got there that it was "Leather Weekend" so there were lots of interesting sights to been seen, lol.  I'm super sore from my dancing my butt off all weekend Smile

  • LadyE, no new car.  It's a long story, but basically we got rid of my old lemon of a Civic by selling it back to the dealership.  We're going to try being a one-car household for now, though I suspect we'll end up getting a second car.

SCM, glad P-town was fun!  We never did make it over there this summer so will have to try to do it next year.  I can imagine what a leather weekend might be like.  In San Francisco, there are a bunch of different street festivals and one of them is the Folsom Street Fair, which features lots of interesting leather gear, gay couples, and demonstrations Smile

Oh, and the food festival was fun. We're going to look into doing a meat CSA.

  • Everyone's weekends were way more exciting than mine.

Friday- went to a friend's house where we tried whipped cream vodka for the first time.  I did not like it at all Sad

Saturday- we had a realtor walk through, so the dog and I went to my SIL's house where I drank too much and had a really nice time.  Oh and Doug deifinitely lifted his leg and peed on my SIL's living room chair.  He keeps me on my toes, that one does.

Sunday- ran some errands to the mall, Target, and the food store then just layed around all day.  I am not feeling great (achy and stuffy), so I am avoiding getting sick.

  • LadyE, glad to hear you may have made some progress with your H! And Rock, I'm glad to hear the festival was good. How was the turnout? Maybe they'll do another one in the spring if it was popular enough.

We were mostly lazy this weekend.  Dinner at L'Espalier on Saturday was so freaking amazing, though. Definitely believe the hype. We spent a ridiculous amount of money between dinner and cabs, but it was so worth it. I have never had chicken that delicious in my life. Plus, pretzel rolls!  My husband gave me the sweetest anniversary present - he put together a photo album of us over the 5 years we've been together and called it "The Story of Team Alica." (That, I may or may not have mentioned before, is our goofy celebrity couple mashup for Alan and Erica.) I started crying when I opened it; I'm such a sap.

Yesterday, I cleaned a little, napped, and read an entire book. I also watched the first episode of Revenge On Demand, which was campy, soapy fun.  He watched football all day, and the dog bounced back and forth between us, pouting. (He hates it when we're in different rooms.)  I barely made it through Dexter on the couch, and then couldn't fall asleep to save my life once I went to bed. I hate that.

  • SmileGood Morning! Weekend was fun, lazy, and super quick.

The first part of Saturday was cleaning the house and getting ready for the birthday party for DH.  I picked up the cake, and also grabbed a bottle of Three Olives Grape from BJ's.  Came home and put the lasagnas together, I got a little creative and made one with a hamburger/italian sausage mix, and one with fresh spinach and a layer of garlic alfredo in the middle.  Nap time, which lasted a little too long, so the lasagnas got in the oven a little late, and I got in the shower a little late Smile

Party was a success!  Everyone loved the food, DH loved all the Star Wars stuff, and since most people gave him bottles of booze, quite a few shots were done.  The boys jammed on their guitars and the girls played "Just Dance".

Surprisingly enough, I did not have a headache/hangover on Sunday morning.....Yay! So we got up and made pumpkin pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, and mimosas for the friends that stayed over.  Lazy day after that watching football.  DH was hungover, but he did a lot more shots than me, and a mix of beer, tequila, and vodka.  He had a great time, and that's what matters!

  • Sorry to hear about your car trouble Rock. That is never fun.

My weekend was pretty low key. Babysat Friday night for my soon to be SIL, and Saturday was the laziest day I have had in awhile, with the exception of the almost seven miles I ran. I am fighting off a cold so it was a welcomed lazy day. Sunday I made a three layer cake for a CW's birthday and my lunch consisted of cake pieces and frosting. I also did a little shopping and returning. Simon had a play date with my friend's boxer and that tuckered him out which made Sunday night pretty laid back.

    A very lame weekend indeed...

  • 5KC, that sounds like such a great anniversary gift!  How totally sweet and thoughtful of your DH; it totally made me go, "Awww!" :)  And I'm glad L'Espalier was so good. Hmm, maybe I'll have to consider it for my birthday dinner later this month.

cwbykitty, good job on the party!  Sounds like your DH had a great birthday weekend.

mfmenchi, you must like your CW a lot to make a triple-layer cake for her!

  • 5000C, what an adorable anniversary gift!

My weekend was pretty good. Hung out at home Friday night. Saturday I spent a lot of the day babysitting my niece. We made apple crisp together. She is soooo much fun. Saturday night I hung out with my girlfriends and watched Bridesmaids. We haven't had much quality time together so that was really nice. Yesterday I spent the morning with my MIL while H was out cutting wood with his dad. Then H and I did a little tiny bit of shopping and then plopped on the couch and had a fire and watched tv. It was a nice way to end the weekend... but I'm bummed its Monday already.

I can't believe I read past that, what an amazing anniversary gift! So sweet of him. I wish my FI was creative like that...

I do like her, but I enjoy baking in general. I am the office baker/birthday person. I make whatever for anyone's birthday or when I feel like baking. I wish I had taken a picture of the cake before we cut into it. A little upset I didn't get proof of it's existence.

  • DH didn't get home until Friday night, so we just hung out and talked after he got home.

Saturday we took DS to swim class, then dropped him off with my parents and went to the animal shelter to test/see the dog we wanted to foster. Then we watched the Razorback-Aggies game and had date night that night.

Sunday- breakfast with my parents, then my mom and I went to get manicures. We hung out since they left today. DH and my dad made a delicious dinner (prime rib, potatoes, grilled veggies, and salad) for us to wrap up the weekend with.

I pulled the foster at lunch today and the nanny is doing everything in her power to give him the cold shoulder because she took one look at him and fell in love.

Big Smile I foresee her "failing" with her first foster experience just like you.

    And yay for fostering again!

  • I'm jealous you hit the yarn crawl. We should make a date for it next year.

Friday we moved the last of our stuff out of the apartment--whew! Saturday DH worked half a day while I did some freelance work, chased a toddler around, and tried to make sense of this house. Sunday we found some key items in a few boxes and I felt we turned a corner. DH worked all day :(

Oops, almost forgot. Our anniversary was Saturday. We got takeout from Not Your Average Joe's (yum!) and DH got me flowers and wine :) I got him a card and chocolate chip cookies :):)

  • Happy Anniversary, Dr.L!

It would be fun to crawl together next year :)  I am super curious about WEBS too and still want to make the trip out there at some point.  First I need to work through a lot of my stash though--there's just too much yarn sitting around and I'm not the type to want a huge stash.

I basically hit up a couple of stores whenever I could find pockets of time this weekend.  Black Sheep Knitting Co. in Needham was probably the nicest of the stores and they were offering a bunch of stuff at 40% off.  The ladies who run it seem really fun, too.

Oh, and I also bit the bullet and finally bought a swift and ball winder.  I realized I had a couple of Joann's gift cards sitting around and they were having a pretty good sale so I was only about $30 out of pocket, including shipping--hooray!

Happy anniversary, Dr. L/anniversary twin!  heh.

And Rock, definitely think about L'Espalier.

  • Weekend in review:

Saturday, Sticky Buns from Flour for breakfast, Shopping (Cole Hahn sent me a 25% off coupon for my Birthday, so I had to stop by and say hello. I mean, it would have been rude not to stop.) Chocolate cupcake from ChocoLee! Yum!!!!!!

Saturday evening made mac and cheese, because that's what I wanted for my B-day dinner... (Rock... L'Espalier was my 35th birthday celebration dinner, it was amazing!)

Sunday,  Zumba at Urbanity Dance Project, SOWA market, planted my fall flowers in window boxes and front garden, Audra McDonald concert at Symphony Hall, dinner with giant profiterole for dessert at Petit Robert on Columbus Ave.

Fun, busy, but somewhat relaxing weekend.

I'm bummed I did not go to the Glass Pumpkin Patch at MIT this year. We are usually one of the first people in line to get our tickets at 5:30AM. But this year I slept in! (No more pumpkins for me) : (

I've never heard of this. Lately I feel like I'm learning about all these things around the area that I've never known about before (the food festival, the yarn crawl, this).  I've lived here for all but six years of my life and there's still so much I have to explore!

Do not get me started on yarn stashes. I'm trying to organize all my yarn and I have to get stuff done before I buy any more. I never realized how much blue yarn I have. And I have a girl!

DH "made" me buy a swift and ball winder a few years back. They are awesome!
